STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Introduction
During my high secondary school, I went for inter-state competition for a project. During the
competition I came across a seminar which was organized by India’s first data science based unicorn
company named “Mu Sigma”. During that seminar for the very first time in my life I came to know
about Data Science. In that event itself I participated in various related projects. I realized what my
true calling was and started focusing on computer programming and analytics. Studying so, I reached
the undergraduate level and became even more immersed in the fields of data analytics, big data, and
artificial intelligence. This profound realization sharpened my emphasis on studying STEM courses
and made me more eager to pursue a career in that field. I began examining market data, which all
pointed to a booming job market and opportunities in this area. This information gave me motivation
to pursue my ambition and complete a thorough study of data science. Thus, I have decided to
complete my dream of educating myself further in the domain of Information Technology (IT) by
pursuing an MS in business analytics.
Academic Background
Being a meritorious student, I always found solace in my studies and strived to do better. In 2017, I
enrolled in a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering. I gained
comprehensive knowledge in subjects like Mathematics for Engineers, Industrial Automation, Control
Systems, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, and others. During the 5th semester of my under
graduation I opted my minors in computer science domain, where I was introduced to subjects like C,
C++, Java, Python, DBMS and many more. During this time as my minor projects I did ”Exploratory
Data Analysis”,” Data Mining, Data Cleaning, Data Visualizations”. Other than this I also participated
in various Hackathons and Competitive programming events, which brought me a great deal of
learning and understanding about the same.
Research Work/Other practical experiences

Along with honing my knowledge in the most challenging subjects, my Bachelor’s degree also gave
me the opportunity to gain hands-on learning through various projects and internships. I completed
two projects, one of which was titled ‘Analysis of Zomato Restaurant Dataset’ and discussed
fundamental data science methods created for analyzing and visualizing information on Bangalore
restaurants that provide their services on Zomato. The data set was obtained from Kaggle, and Watson
Studio was used for data analysis and visualization. Making a university management portal was the
focus of the other project, which was titled ‘University Management Portal.’ I also received
certification from Coursera at this time in ‘Front-End Web UI Framework and Tool: Bootstrap 4,’
‘Tools for Data Science,’ and ‘Data Science Methodology.’
Work Experience
All this knowledge earned me the position of Programmer Analyst Trainee at Cognizant, Bangalore
City, from March to July 2021. This training turned into a full-time job at the same designation in the
same organization. I am responsible for creating the data and reporting infrastructure from the ground
up using Tableau, Excel, and SQL to provide real-time insights on the company’s products and KPIs.
Using tableau, I also created dashboards for comparative analysis to uncover business insights.
(Mention your learnings/takeaways from the work you have done.). Along with this I have been
trained on CRM tool “PEGA”, and I am “Certified PEGA System Architect”. As I was one of the top
performers in the Certification course, I was directed to one of esteemed client of my organization for
further work. I got the chance to work for a US based prestigious bank where I worked on flow
designing and backend support. In addition to this I have been directly interacting and dealing with
client which gave me an insight of how to efficiently do deliverables on time.
Why MS? Why now?

Now, I feel empowered to embark on the next academic adventure, so I would like to pursue an MS in
Business Analytics. The course will provide me with a comprehensive knowledge of analytics that
balances the technologies, analytical methods, and business expertise required to extract valuable
information from data and make strategic business decisions. Moreover, I will gain the technical,
analytical, communication, decision-making, and leadership skills necessary to succeed as business
analysts.
Post MS Career goals

Following MS, I wish to work as a business analytics manager or an IT risk manager for a leading
organization like Google, Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, or any of the Big Four organizations. My long-
term goal is to hone my skills and attain the maximum level of expertise in order to be promoted to a
senior position that makes me capable of bringing a change in the organization and so directly
contribute to its growth.
Why this particular university?

A Master’s degree in ________________ at the Kent State University, City, State, is best suited for
me. More than 360 undergraduate programs of study are available at this university, spread over its 11
colleges. Moreover, the university is situated in the United States, which is the centre of all IT
developments and the global leader in this field. A degree earned at your university is recognized
around the world and honored for its excellence, which will improve my employability. Add some
specific features of the university that suit your requirements. Add names of any faculty (at least 2)
and their research areas in this program (give names), research labs/centres, clubs, activities,
subjects in the curriculum/electives, and also the scope of these in enhancing your profile.
Conclusion
Finally, I urge you to consider my application for this course as I would be able to fulfillfulfil my
long-held dream with admission at your reputed university. I am positive that I will fully avail the
learning opportunities by diligently participating in every lecture, project, assignment and lab
provided by the institution. I am keen to contribute to the institute and society by taking up more
projects and assignments of social relevance. While I know that a world class course such as yours
will be extremely challenging and test my limits, I have confidence in my competence and dedication.
