2. Safety Instructions
Intended Application
Sources of Risk
If the measuring system has been correctly installed and commissioned, it does
not pose any danger during weigh operations.
Hazards may arise when the system is used for control operations or for
transporting weighed goods. Potential hazards may then arise from e.g.
additional devices through which the weighed goods are passed or metered.
Minor risks may arise in these situations if the measuring system is used or
operated by untrained personnel.
The measuring system may be used as one component integrated into a more
complex system. The system operating company is fully responsible for the
operating safety of the system.
This symbol identifies potential hazards that could lead to injury or even death
in extreme cases.
This symbol identifies potential hazards that could result in damage to the
measuring system or other system components.
Personnel
Preparation, assembly, commissioning, operation, maintenance and servicing
may only be carried out by qualified personnel.
All persons who use the measuring system in any way must know and observe
the safety instructions and those sections of the operating manual relevant to
them.
It is the responsibility of the operating company to oblige the operating
personnel to comply with all regulations and instructions as they appear in the
operating manual.

5.2. Dongle/adjustment
The calibration parameters and calibration results are stored in the dongle. This
has the advantage that no new calibration must be performed should a
DISOMAT component be exchanged or adjusted. Manipulating the dongle
causes the calibration data to be lost.

At critical spots, i.e. in the wet and dirty area underneath a vehicle scales,
unsoiled silicone grease should be applied to the cover seal and to the sea-
ling rings on the cable feedthroughs.
6. Options
6.1. Calibration Memory Modules
VMM 20450
The calibration memory modules can be used for calibratable memory storage
as a substitute for an alibi printer or for external calibratable memory.
The VMM 20450 consists of a USB flash memory module with a 128 MB
capacity. It can store 3 million typical weighing results and can be exchanged if
required.
The memory modules in the DISOMAT can be upgraded at any time. There are
not secured against removal. The device automatically recognizes that a
memory module has been removed and will display an error message at the
next attempt to save data to the module. Changing the module does not affect
the DISOMAT’s operation.
Organization of Data
The data on the calibration memory module cannot be manipulated and cannot
be read out with standard tools. The module can be scanned and the stored
data read out with the DISOMAT. The following search criteria can be used:
n Date/Time
n Sequential number
n Designation (left-aligned)
The individual data sets are simply stored sequentially in the calibration
memory. The structure of the memory module is that of a ring-buffer, i.e., once
full, the data set to have been written first will be overwritten. First a check is
performed to see if the data set to be overwritten has reached a preselected
minimum age. If it doesn’t, the data set is preserved and the device registers an
error message. In this case the memory module should be exchanged.
n Date / time
n Sequential number
n Gross
n Tare
n Scale status
n Formatting information (increment value, dimension...)
n Additional, user-defined information
The DISOMAT can be used to, among other things, display the fill degree of
the calibration memory (after the first complete writing this is close to 100%)
and the date of the oldest register-day by pressing the “Test” button.
The remote keyboard labelling is the same as on the fixed DISOMAT keyboard.
This allows a remote keyboard to be operated in the same manner as the fixed
keyboard. The entry ofα/n characters is considerably easier on the remote
keyboard.
IP65 membrane keyboards are labeled directly on the keys.
All fieldbus interfaces are cards which have been inserted into the mainboard.
Certain fieldbus systems may have some restrictions, such as length of cable
and bus termination. Please refer to the technical specifications of the bus
system used for further details. To provide the optimum EMC interference
safety we recommend that those cables specified by the individual fieldbuses
be used.
A list of auxiliary equipment for the fieldbuses can be found in the chapter
“Supplied Parts and Replacement Parts”.
Bus termination
The bus termination resistances must be activated at the first and last station of
the bus. This is done by setting alljumper plugs into position 1-2 on the card. As
a rule the resistances are not activated (position 2-3).
Bus addresses:
n The addresses are set using parameters.

The VSS021 has two bus termination connectors. The front XS2 is used in
DISOMAT.
Pin assignment
The VSS021 is installed in the DISOMAT fieldbus slot (see the section on
Fieldbus Interfaces for installation details).
A VSS021 and a fieldbus card cannot be installed simultaneously.
Figure 17:
Figure 18:
The VEA produces a 0(4)-20mA electric current at the output which may be
converted into a voltage via a termination resistance if required.
The inputs can be supplied with either 0(4)-20mA (XAI 1,3) or with 0-10V
(XAI 2,4) as desired.
Functionality:
The modules are conencted to the DISOMAT in series and are supplied
with data via function blocks. A maximum of 3 modules with digital
inputs/outputs, one analog output module and one analog input module
can be connected.
The analog output and the third I/O module exclude each other as they
both use the same address.
Caution!:
The ICP7067 relay outputs can only withstand a load of up to
120VAC/0.5A!!
The ICP module interface parameters are fixed: RS85, 9600 baud, 8 bit, no
parity, 1 stop bit.
This form of switching means that voltage is present at the inputs with an open
switch (logical LOW signal) and that the control LEDs are lit.
Figure 19:
Please use no external circuits to reverse this logic as then the wire-break
safety facility will no longer function, and the signalsin the DISOMAT will no
longer be processed. The entire signal chain is so designed that the device
recognizes a logical HIGH when the switch is activated and a LOW if a wire
breaks.

Installation
1. The DISOMAT S1 or S2 interfaces should be used for the DT terminal.
In the non-explosion hazard area the DT operating terminal is connected
and the power supplied according to the terminal connection diagram in
chapter 5. An additional power supply is required. In the explosion hazard
area the power supply is equipped with a protective circuit. Terminal con-
nection diagrams can be found in chapter 7.
The large-format digital displays show weight values to a wide area. They are
used on all industrial scales in situations where weight values are to be read at
a distance. The are robust and suitable for use in industrial operations.
For details on connecting the secondary display see the terminal connection
diagram on page .
The configuration can be found in the Secondary Displays manual BV-H2015

The series resistance of the safety barriers determines the supply voltage for
load cells and displays in explosion hazard areas, the value of which is lower
than the voltage supplied by the DISOMAT. If the load cells are to be supplied
then the value is dependent on the cumulative impedance and thus on the
number of load cells to be supplied.
The following table is intended to assist the setting up of the scales:
The table can also be used as a troubleshooting guide. If the scales are not
producing the expected results or if the weight values are unstable, an
inspection of the load cell voltage supply could help.
Caution:
Load cells must be supplied with synchronized AC voltage. To measure the
voltage, use either a suitable instrument (such as an oscilloscope) or halt the
voltage synchronization at the device.
DT(A) 204..E supply voltages should be at least 12V. This value can also be
used to monitor the wiring in case of any malfunction.

The following illustration shows the position of the connections for the max. 8
measuring channels (type-dependent) on the connection circuit board. The
connection circuit board is accessible after the mainboard and
measuring-circuit board have been removed (a coupling circuit board may have
to be removed beforehand). The ribbon cable connector for the connection
circuit board is separated on the measuring circuit card. Finally, the insulating
plate can be removed and the connection circuit board can be accessed.
When connecting the load cell cable ensure that the cable screening is well
connected to the screening clamps supplied.

NOTE:
Access to the DISOPLAN functions is administered via license levels. They
range from the standard operator to the instrument developer. This is the
reason why some of the functions shown in this manual may not be visible or
accessible in other installations.
DISOMAT® Opus S1 Use the V052410.B01 cable or make cables according to the
connection diagram in the system manual.
DISOBOX S1
You can connect DISOPLAN at any time if the interface is not occupied by
other systems. You have to turn the system on and off if the interface is
otherwise occupied (for instance, with a secondary display) and you can start
set-up operation with DISOPLAN within the first minute after turning it on. Turn
DISOPLAN on and off after ending it and its resumes normal operation after
one minute.
You can activate set-up operation in menu item 5C Start DISOPLAN at any
time if the system has a display and keyboard.
All systems can also be configured via Ethernet (the VET 020 option card has
to be installed on DISOBOX). This allows access to the system at any time, but
the configuration of the PC used has to allow access to the system’s network
address.
Connected systems are identified by the Search for New Systems function and
the following series of figures shows how to communicate via Ethernet (there is
a different process with serial communication).
Other detected device types are displayed in the window with different symbols.
To configure a system, either click the symbol twice or branch off to the specific
system via Display Selection.
Fig. 39:
Before starting configuration, you have to use the Enter Password function to
set the correct operating privilege. You can find details on the structure of
privileges in each operating manual.
IMPORTANT:
The current passwords in the system are used (they may differ from the factory
values given in the manual).

When you load the data, it shows the internal menu tree of DISOMAT as
shown.
It offers all instrument parameters and functions in a transparent fashion for
editing and executing. Since all of the functions have been explained in the
BV-H2313 Operating Manual, we shall not go into them in detail here.

– Data security: reading out the program and data from DISOBOX into a
back-up file. This can also be called up directly from the main menu.
– Data restoration: restoring data from the back-up file into the instrument
Fig. 47:
You can use ‘Information’ to call up data on the oldest / most recent memory
input and its assignment. Then you can read the data into a new file or attach it
to an existing file. We recommend attaching files especially with greater
amounts of data since reading out a full legal-for trade memory can take
several hours.
The data are filed in a text file and they can be opened with data processing
programs or also be imported into Excel.
