When it comes to job security Infosys and TCS are

best. But my suggestion is if you have stepped in IT
industry just don't think about security. Your main aim
should be learning and earning. It becomes really
difficult to work in IT in your late 40’s so if you will
earn more in your initial career then you can plan for
early retirement, staying in the same company for job
security in the initial career is not good and if you are
in your late 30’s and early 40’s above companies are
good options. All the best!

TCS values its employees.

That statement might infuriate most TCS employees

because that is a partial lie. But here is the fun part.
There lies a partial truth too. TCS cares for its
employees slightly more than its competitors. How
you might ask?

Well, I had an interview with TCS and I had been in a

long conversation with a guy from senior
management. He was sitting in his office in the
Netherlands and asking me all kinds of questions
about my career, the tech I am passionate about, and
my life choices. I had always been dexterous in
speech, which did impress him. He seemed friendly
and after almost 45 minutes of conversation, he gave
me some insights and life advice before taking up the
TCS job. These were his two cents after spending 22
years in TCS.

1. TCS is NOT a paymaster but if you have

above par skills with networking,
communication, and tech, you can jump to
the top very soon. You got to make friends in
high places, that is a given thing.

2. TCS has health insurance of 15 lakhs. To

many, it will never matter, but if you have a
family to take care of, you will know how
valuable that amount is.

3. TCS does fire its employees. Internal politics

in TCS is still very high. However, that is
lower compared to its competitors such as
Accenture, Cognizant etc.

4. You can plan your retirement in TCS if you

get into TCS after 14 to 15 years of work
experience. Not many companies can say
that.

5. TCS has offices in every other state (almost)

so even if you think of shifting, it won’t be
much of a problem.

Some TCS branches are better than others and the

work culture is better (Bangalore, Hyderabad,
Chennai).

Infosys is a good company too, but TCS steals the

show among the service companies. Whatever small
amount these companies pay, TCS has the most
worth.

If you consider an engineering job as a Government

job, then you shouldn’t have come into this field in the
first place.

There is no job security in any corporate or private

companies. If you are still under genjutsu then wake
up to reality nothing goes as planned in this world.

First of all I will clarify you that there is no job security

even in TCS or any other company. You heard it right
there is no job security even in TCS, these are just
some myths. Your job is secure untill you are
reasonably paid resource and contributing to
company's growth otherwise you will be losing your
job. You may even lose your job in many other
scenarios also even after contributing to the
company's growth and I don't wanna discuss about
those.

Don’t know about Infy, but for TCS I can ensure you
(2014-present)
that they never fire there Employee until there is any
violation of Tata Code of Conduct(set of guidliness to
be followed by TATA Group Employees). I remember
in one townhall meeting, our Delivery head was asked
a question that What would happen if our account
gets closed (contract for our project account was
ending). He told us that TCS never let’s go of its
employee, even when there was this huge recession
of 2008–09 period, TCS didn’t fired even a single
employee(that’s what he said :P).

There are always risks involved in any kind of

employment, job security being the biggest one in IT
organizations. Nobody can vouch for a single
company in terms of job security. Having said that,
TCS is one organization which boasts to stand by its
employees in the toughest times. During the ’08
recession when every other company was on a firing
spree, TCS took to increasing working hours instead
of getting rid of its people.

If you are a fresher you can chill,learn and do average

job.You should be fine till 4-5yrs.

For all those who call the TCS government job and
say that it's job security of TCS, I would like to share
my experience of TCS,

TCS fired me, it begged to HR not to fire me as I had

my younger sister at home to get married and I was
only earning in my home, but HR reacted in a
inhumane way and fired me despite knowing my
family situation. Instead they teased me and spoke
rude words to me on my last day

My only fault was I spoke against unethical practices

of management and my voice was suppressed by TCS
HR Head and instead conspiracy was planned to fire
me in a notorious way.

security at TCS is definitely higher as it is part
of a conglomerate which can absorb shocks. At
Infosys, you need to perform well or you will be
targeted next time there are layoffs. But if the market
remains stable, you can have a free run at Infosys too.

4.5 lacs employees are working in TCS and I am one

of them. TCS cares a lot for their employees. My HR
called me today and was enquiring about my health
and how my family is coping up in this lockdown
period. He felt like a family member to me and made
me happy to be a part of the TCS family. In this harsh
time, when many people are losing their jobs or not
getting their salary, I feel lucky to be a part of TCS. It

is not assured in any kind of job. Tcs and
infy usually never fires an employee unless the
employee commits some crime. Till the time you do
your job and contribute towards company's goals, you

I would answer for TCS.(don’t know about others but

it is almost same with a few risks here and there)

As for a fresher TCS is one of the best companies

giving you a secure job. They have a proper
measuring scale called Deployment Index(DI) for
analyzing your Skills and Value to the company. And
it’s rather easy to maintain a good DI.

If you have a very poor DI for a quite long time then

maybe the HR takes action against you.

need to follow their rules and code of conduct .

I have worked for TCS for 4+ years, I can share my

own experience. Firstly, there is NO. JOB Security in
TCS, the who call it as a government company is
alsolutely bullshit. They fire Freshers and fire the
senior employees.

Secondly, the management including HR in TCS as

corrupt and unethical just like a govt department
India, they follow unethical and dishonest practices to
the core. The people who call the Tata group is know
for its employees friendly behaviour, that's all the
policies a publicity stunt but at ground level reality is
totally different.
