Various specifications, both physical and psychological makes the modality of management vital. This observational, descriptive and transversal study done at the pediatric and surgical department of the CHU PZaGa Mahajanga, Madagascar aim to make a report of the epidemiologic status and evaluate the global management of children sent in for surgery. As a matter of care improvement, starting from a better knowledge of the pediatric subject first of all. Each year 20,4% of children, representing 12% of the hospital’s surgical admission was operated for visceral surgery. The children were mostly from the age of 1 to 3 years old (37,5%) and male (68,75%). A big percentage (37,5%) of the operations was done within emergency condition. The most common diagnosis was Inguinal Hernia (37,5%). Hydro electrolytic resuscitation represented the perioperative management for 43,75% of our cases within which 9,37% has received a specific pediatric perfusion solution. Premedication were prescribed. For 40,62% a specialist in anesthesia and resuscitation was present all along the operation. For 68,75% intravenous anesthetics were used. Most intervention lasted from 40 min to 2 and half hour. In post-operative care, complications were present for 37,5%. The stay at the recovery room was one day for 46,87% and two days for 21,88%. The value of prevention, especially in the matter of mass education was underlined, and so the improvement of the management to promote a much comfortable journey for children inside the surgical world.
