Getting Started: 1. Check OIL, WATER and FUEL levels before starting engine. 2. Make sure BATTERY TERMINAL(S) is/are tightened prior to starting the generator set (Genset). 3. Inspect for engine oil, water and fuel leaks. 4. If the generator has not been used for a long period of time: Inspect for loose or stripped electrical wirings due to insects or rodents bites. 5. Check fan belt tension.
Starting the engine: (Warm up Stage) 1. Switch BATTERY SWITCH to ON position. (if available) 2. Warm up engine at idling/low speed less than 1000 rpm for NOT MORE THAN 3 MINUTES. (when available) Running the engine: 1. Factory set engine speed as specified in the table below: 2. Inspect for oil, water and fuel leaks at this speed. Check for any abnormal smell, sound and/or dirt coming from the unit. 3. Do not engage load at this time; run genset unit for at least 10 minutes.
Engaging Load on the Generator Set: 1. Make sure all electrical appliances air-conditioner, motors, pumps, computers, TV, electronic / electrical equipments, etc are turned OFF before switching to Generator Power. 2. Turn ON Genset MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER. 3. Switch from Commercial Power to Generator Power. 4. Switch On electrical appliances one by one according to their wattage, starting with the highest wattage appliance. Make sure load does not exceeded more than its rated ampere. 5. Run-In (Brake-in) Period shall be at least 20 hours
Engaging Load on the Generator Set (cont): 6. Load must NOT exceed 80% of rated current. 7. Check again for abnormal smell, noise, etc. Inspect water, oil and fuel leaks from time to time to ensure proper unit operation. 8. GENERATOR IS RATED AS STANDBY; DO NOT USE FOR MORE THAN FOUR (4) HOURS STRAIGHT. REST PERIOD MUST BE AT LEAST TWO (2) HOURS.
Switching to Normal Power: 1. Switch OFF Circuit Breaker. 2. Shift Transfer Switch to Normal Power position. Stopping the Engine: Cool-down Stage 1. Run genset for AT LEAST 10 MINUTES without load. 2. Press ENGINE STOP or Switch Ignition Key to OFF position (on some models) to bring engine to complete stop.
Maintenance Schedule: Engine Oil and Filter: Replace Every 100 Hours or 3 months, whichever comes first. Fuel Filter: Replace every SIX (6) MONTHS, depending on fuel grade/purity used. Air Filter: Replace every ANNUALY. Severe environment and/or more number of hours used must be replaced more often. A.C. ALTERNATOR BEARINGS must be inspected quarterly or 150 hours, replaced semi annually or every 300 hours, whichever comes first.
