break the rules, however innocently, may be penalised. It is your responsibility to ensure that you
understand correct referencing practices. As a university level student, you are expected to use
appropriate references throughout and keep carefully detailed notes of all your sources of materials for
material you have used in your work, including any material downloaded from the Internet. Please
consult the relevant unit lecturer or your course tutor if you need any further advice.

Assignment 2: Research project report (you will select and analyze a business case in line with the
topic below). In this assignment, you will choose a business/firm/organization as a case study for
CSR. Then, you will analyze how it has conducted CSR activities. Finally, you provide
recommendations based on what you have found.
This is an individual work and you are required to submit a comprehensive report that includes
components of a primary research (please see further on the template provided), and performance review
on the following topic:
Corporate Social Responsibility is the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and
contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their
families as well as of the local community and society at large.’ (World Business Council for
Sustainable Development).
Businesses worldwide have increasingly embraced the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR) as a means to develop and adopt sustainable practices and approaches in their business
operations. It is a multifaceted concept that encompasses many different aspects ranging from
philanthropy, ethical responsibilities and environmental considerations. Most recently, in response to
maximising stakeholder value and expectations, the strategic benefits of CSR have seen many
companies having a competitive advantage.
Together with the rise of globalisation, companies now employ CSR managers, experts and consultants
to produce comprehensive CSR policies and programmes, to give them a competitive edge and build
stakeholder trust and loyalty.
Gaining knowledge and skills on business research, gaining knowledge in the chosen topic, and
delivering a professional report is not only challenging but it seems like an overwhelming task for you.
The only way to succeed at this challenge is managing the project in a professional manner.
Following the abovementioned topic for this semester, we recommend some dimensions (but not
limited to them) that help you better imagine your own interest.
1. How do the leaders/employees in the business case selected perceive CSR?
2. In what ways does/do the business case(s) implement CSR?
3. What did they prepare for the implementation of CSR?
4. What are the challenges of CSR implementation?
5. How does implementation of CSR benefit the business case?
6. Other ideas, please consult with your lecturer/tutor
Note: you will need to take a closer look at the template of this final report provided to better understand
the structure for your assignment 2. You will analyze the business case, communicate the research results
and then offer recommendations from what you have found.
In this assignment 2, in addition to parts required for a normal primary business research, you will
also need to include the performance review (see further in the template) at the end of this final
report.

It is also important to remember to attach the link that connects your maker to the open-access primary
data that you collect.
Wordcount for assignment 2: 4000 words. You need to specify wordcount below the title of your research
project report.
Note: the similarity rate for this module is 25%. You need to submit the work via Moodle.
Late work: You cannot submit your work later than the assigned date.
