Dates and events of Tripura
1) 1468: Ratna Manikya first introduced Coin In Tripura.

2) 1501: The Tripureswari Temple was constructed by


the king Dharna Manikya at Udaipur ( Rangamati).

3) 1513: Nawab Hussain Shah invaded Tripura.

4) 1618: Mughals invaded Tripura for the first time


during the reign of Jashodhar Manikya and Jashodhar
Manikya became winner.

5) 1761: Krishna Manikya shifted the capital from Udaipur
to Old Agartala. Chaturdash Devata Temple was
constructed in Old Agartala by him.

6) 1789: The king Rajdhar Manikya made a marriage


relation with Manipuri Kingdom.

7) 1838: Krishna Kishore Manikya shifted from Old Agartala


to New Agartala to survive his kingdom from the attack of
Kuki.

8) 1850: Tripuri revolt was occurred by the leadership of


Parikshit and Kirti.

9) 1863: Jamatia revolt was occurred by Parikshit Jamatia.

10) 1871: British Government nominated AWB Power as Tripura’s


first Political Agent and Agartala Municipality was established by
the king Bir Chandra Manikya.

11) 1875: The first Post Office set up at Agartala.

12) 1876: Bir Chandra Manikya got the title ‘Maharaja’ from British
Government.

13) 1878: ‘Slave System’ was abolished by the king Bir Chandra
Manikya.

14) 1889: Bir Chandra Manikya banned ‘Sati System’.

15) 1891: The first high School was set up. Later it was
known as Umakanta Academy.

16) 1894: The first girls High School Maharani Tulsibati


High School was set up.

17) 1896: Bir Chandra Central Library was set up.

18) 1900: Rabindranath Tagore first arrived in Tripura as
a guest of Radha Kishore Manikya.

19) 1901: Ujjayanta Palace was built by Radha Kishore


Manikya.

20) 1903: Radha Kishore Manikya built Victoria


Memorial Hospital.

21) 1905: First Bengali newspaper ‘Arun’ published. The


editor was Chandradoy Vidya Vinod.

22) 1915: Birendra Kishore introduced Tripura
Civil Service. Chief Secretary post was created.

23) 1916: Tea Cultivation was started.

24) 1921: The first Literary newspaper ‘Rabi’ was


published.

25) 1929: The first Bank was set up in Tripura.

26) 1938: The first Political organization Janamangal Samiti
was formed.

27) 1941: Rabindranath Tagore was conferred ‘Bharat


Bhaskar’ by Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya. Reang Revolt was
organized by Ratanmani Reang.

28) 1945: British Government conferred Bir Bikram Kishore


Manikya ‘Lieutenant Colonel’.

29) 1946: Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya was conferred with


‘Knight Grand Cross of the order of the British Empire’ by
the British Government.

30) 1947: Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya
formed ‘Tripur Sangha’. Death of Bir Bikram
Kishore Manikya at the age of 39. Council of
Regency led by Queen Kanchanprabha Devi
was formed. She agreed to sign ‘Instrument of
Accession to join in Union of India.
