Reaction Paper for the Topic Social Media and the E-Customer

Reporter: Mark Ernie Mah

The report is all about Social Media and the E-Customer. Social media are interactive
technologies
that allow the creation or sharing/exchange of information, ideas, career interests, and other forms of
expression via virtual communities and networks. The top five mist visited websites in the Philippines
are Google, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Messenger. Social Media content includes blogging. Blogs
create a free exchange of ideas you learn from what others think and share your own thoughts through
the comment box. Blogging is popular because its flexible and portable, keeps clients up to date, helps
build trust with customers and blogs can make money. The disadvantages of blogging are requiring a lot
of time, needs new content often and payoff isn’t immediate. Microblogs bring social networking to its
most essential elements which are a post, a comment, and an indication of relationships. Photo Sharing -
photos convey more than what words can. Photos are very useful in sharing places visited, food eaten,
and people has been with. Video Sharing –videos are even more effective than photos. With movement
and audio, the experience become richer. Location-based Social Network– also known as mobile social
network, this is where people can share their location with friends. This application allows you to
“check-in “to inform friends of your current location and check on a list of venues that are nearby. Social
Media Marketing is the process where a business owner, such as yourself, uses the power of sites like
Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr to promote your brand or products. In order to execute a successful social
media marketing campaign, the business owners should review the list of traits that define a successful
campaign. There are reasons why social media marketing is important for the business or brand. In
doing social media marketing, business must consider ethical considerations. E-customers are people
who shop online, these customers talk back, these customers create reviews via social forums, people
with obscure needs can now come together and they usually become “opinion leaders” for certain
products.

From the report, I learned what is social media. Social media allows individuals to keep in touch
with friends and extended family. Some people will use various social media applications to network and
find career opportunities, connect with people across the globe with like-minded interests, and share
their own thoughts, feelings, and insights online. Social media can help you engage with your
customers and find out what people are saying about your business. You can also use social media for
advertising, promotional giveaways and mobile applications. Social media can help your business to
attract customers, get customer feedback and build customer loyalty. Through social media you can
connect with existing and potential customers, offer customer service, perform market research and you
can demonstrate your brand personality by having a more authentic connection to your customers. The
most effective marketing strategies are targeted towards a specific audience. Building an effective social
media presence helps you to reach out and create positive interactions, with each interaction building
on the last. Even if your click-through rates are low, social media simply increases the number of
opportunities your business must reach out and target new customers. Social media is important
because it allows you to reach, nurture, and engage with your target audience — no matter their
location. When a business can use social media to connect with its audience, it can use social media to
generate brand awareness, leads, sales, and revenue. Social media can be a useful tool for businesses,
bringing advantages such as engaging with your audience and boosting website traffic. However, there
can also be disadvantages, including the resources required and negative feedback. There are ways for
companies to be successful with social media marketing. Content that engages readers draws more
attention and earns more clicks. Connecting with the intended audience by creating interesting and
enjoyable content will create faithful followers and grow the company’s online presence. High quality,
impactful content is what people are looking for. It cannot be boring. It must grab their attention, draw
them in so they keep reading. It must deliver on that promise that this is something worth my time. It
must be new and creative enough to stand out from all the rest. Research says that social media is a
growing platform for businesses to engage with their customer base, but they must have a distinct
image and consistently create interesting content that stirs emotion in their audience. People don’t
want to see the same content rebranded to a different post. They want excitement. They want cutting
edge information. They want to be entertained and understood. Well-written copy that resonates with
people, engages the audience by speaking to their needs, and makes them feel like it was written just
for them, is the key component to successful social media marketing.

The best way to evaluate the importance of applying social media in marketing is to realize the
importance of social media in everyday life of people who are likely to become your customers. Social
media marketing has become a necessity, one that is imposed to the business by the overall presence
and impact social networks have on the users. In the world with over 70% of internet users active on
social networks, who spend at least one hour a day on average on those social networks, social
networks have become a sort of reality in which people communicate, interact, and obviously trust.
Businesses can have a lot of benefits from using social networks therefore social media marketing is an
important part of the business world.
