Wartsila Vasa 32 - Instructions - Wear Criteria For The Connecting Rod Small End Bearing Bush
INSTRUCTION
General The small end bearing bush, 111 002, for the connecting rod shall be
visually inspected at every piston overhaul.
Acceptable wear is when some overlay metal is still visible in the centre of
the bearing bush, see gap B in the figures below. When the wear area
extends all the way across the bearing bush, it should be replaced.
Can be used
until next overhaul
To be replaced
View A-A, wear patterns. For an earlier type of bearing bush, the wear
pattern takes the form of triangles (left figures) while the pattern for a
later type of bearing bush, marked 2V11B0557, is more rectangular (right
figures).
Note! Already at the first overhaul after a bearing bush replacement, the wear
area may appear large. This is due to the construction and geometry of the
bearing, initial wear appears quickly but will then slow down.
