DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK IMMERSION PARTNER

History

Santiago South Central School believed so much of the importance of education as

an essential to national progress and as a requirement for quality life, it’s good to be
given an opportunity to become part of their school as a student’s dreaming to become
a teacher someday. This school is good in teaching, on appreciating student’s skill and
talent. They are also giving respect and effort when they have visitors.

This school is good for the students who want to train or developed their skills in
terms of teaching. The teachers at this school are one of the best teachers we have
ever encountered. They always make sure that every day we finish we have something
to learn as a teacher. They will give you enough information and knowledge that may
help you in pursuing your dreams. They taught us to enhance our confidence when it
comes to speaking in front of many people

In twenty-days we spent in Santiago South Central School we must say that we’re
grateful that we are given the chance to observe and teach. The teachers here have
given us the confidence to share our knowledge with the students. We have learned to
extend our patience when it come to children. There are so many things that we’ve
learned, a thing that can help us to become what we aspire to be in the near future.
Santiago South Central School is a good trainer. Even if we didn’t stayed here for a very
long time it will always have a special place in our hearts for being part of developing
ourselves which we can use to achieve our dreams.

Santiago South Central School has the largest school site located at Barangay
Victory Norte, Santiago City. This school was formerly called as Santiago Farm School
when Santiago was still alone, District Municipality. Due to influx of population of the
municipality, Santiago District was divided into two districts the North District and the
South District which gave birth to the two Central School in 1970.
The school strategic location at the heart of the commercial center and other
business establishments has greatly influences and affected the inflation of the
enrollment. It is for the reason that Santiago South Central School has the biggest
number of enrollment among the four at the city and for some other reasons the parents
have high regards with the teachers commitment in producing and molding
academically prepared pupils for academic competition emerging champions from
school, district, division and national level.

It is the most renowned Central School in the city producing successful graduates,
few to mention are former Sen. Heherson T. Alvarez, the late Congressman Antonio M.
Abaya, and some other high ranking government officials.

PART III

NARRATION OF EXPERIENCES

Introduction of Experiences

This part contains learnings, insights gained, observations, activities, and experiences
done within the 76 hours of work immersion in Santiago South Central School, Victory
Norte, 3311, Santiago City, Isabela. Starting on February 10, 2020 to March 12, 2020.

Work Immersion Training is a part of a senior high curriculum that aims to train ad orient
students about the work and their future career. It is very important not only to teach
students in their chosen career but to show to them the reality about working. This helps
the student to provide sufficient knowledge to the field they chosen.

Experiences/Observation within the Supervisor/Teacher

Jim Boy C. Bumalin

Madam Tereshelle S. Cayago is my work immersion supervisor or industry supervisor.

She is very good and nice supervisor to me. She taught me on how to manage the
children and class. She taught me also her strategies on how to teach children. Yes! It
is very hard to be a teacher, but you need to do your job. Even the children are too
noisy you need to be patient, as a teacher you need to scold them and teach them good
manners and right conducts. Ma'am Cayago taught me to be patient and take you
responsibility. Being a teacher is not easy because you take and face hardships and
criticism but as a teacher this is a big part. And she told me that you need to appreciate
small things and love what you're are doing. This lessons that I learned from her will be
my guide in my next journey as an aspiring and successful teacher someday.

Kyla Catherine Peralta-

My work immersion supervisor is Ms. Aira Lorraine F. Ceredon. She is the adviser of
Grade 1-Blue. I am very thankful that she became my supervisor because she’s kind,
understanding and she always make sure that I’m comfortable all throughout the work
immersion days. During the work immersion, she guided me for 20 days. She taught me
that I need to extend my patience especially when it comes to children. She always
make sure that I will have something to learn from her and with what I observe each
day. She showed me that the field of teaching is fun, especially when your students
learned something from you even when it’s tiring. She taught me to be brave and ready
myself because it is difficult to be a teacher, you have to go through a lot of hardships
before you become a teacher. She introduced me the real setting inside a classroom
and it’s very hard especially on handling naughty kids but despite of that, I enjoyed a lot
on engaging with the children and my work immersion supervisor. This experiences will
be a great help to me to become the person I wanted to be.

Experiences/Observation within the Employee/Staffs

Jim Boy C. Bumalin

A good teacher and staffs can make a world of difference in a student's life, impacting
everything from their classroom learning to their long-term success. The teachers and
Staffs of the Santiago South Central School welcome us in our first day. They taught us
rules and regulations of the schools and orient us. The Teachers of SSCS are strong
communicators, when it comes to effective teaching, strong communication skills are a
must. They are also Good Teachers who listen well, great communication doesn't stop
when the teacher is done talking and listening well is one of the most important skills
needed to a teacher. The teachers also in the said school show empathy to their
students. They are also patient. They also share their best practices, a willingness to
share knowledge and experiences to their pupils. Whenever I met teachers in the
pathway of the SSCS they smile at me and I feel that they are very kind. I observed that
they are doing their best just to inspired children and help their students for their future.
Whenever I go to the office, the staffs there are working well. They are kind and willing
to do their job and lastly, the Teachers and Staffs of the Santiago South Central School
are well-trained.

Kyla Catherine Peralta-

Santiago South Central School has the best teachers and staffs. During the first day,
the welcomed us whole-heartedly and guided us. They disseminated us properly and
they make sure that we will learn something from our instructors. Every time we enter
the school they always welcome us with a smile on their faces even the security guards.
The teachers are very hardworking. I saw how passionate they are on teaching young
minds for them to have a better future. They are very patient and understanding. They
never showed negative attitude towards us and treated us like a friend, sister not just an
immersion student. We are very gratitude for being part of Santiago South Central
School even though it is just for a short time. We will never forget the lessons and
memories we had with the teachers, staff and most especially the children. We will
always bring the advices and lesson they taught to us.

Daily Activities/Diary/Narration of Work Immersion Daily Experiences

Jim Boy C. Bumalin

1st day (February 10, 2020)

This is my first day of my work immersion in Santiago South Central School and I'm very
excited to meet my supervisor and my class. I and Co-students stayed in the principal's
office to wait our designation in what class we belong. And I'm very happy because Sir
Remajoe Miguel told me that I'm going to teach Grade 3 class and I love kids. When I
enter the room. I smile and greet them. Madam Tereshelle Cayago gave me time to
introduce myself to the children. After I introduced myself, they smile back at me and it
was very overwhelming. Today, I observed the children's attitude and actions inside the
classroom since it's my first day. Then later on my teacher gave me a task to test my
speaking and skills that I have. I explain to them the topic in Araling Panlipunan which is
the Aralin 54: Mga namumuno at kasapi ng mga lalawigan. In order them to understand
it clearly. Teacher Tereshelle S. Cayago, the adviser of Grade 3, Sampaguita Section,
taught me to be patient inside the classroom since they are young, you need to speak
louder in order them to listen it carefully. Yes! Children are too noisy and that is their
nature since they are young. I successfully did my first day and I'm hoping that this good
work will continue until I finished my work immersion.

2nd day (February 11, 2020,)

My second day brought me good vibes and I'm very excited again to meet my class.
When I enter the room, I was shocked because the children hug me and say "nice to
meet you again sir Jim Boy" and later on I discussed them about "Kahalagahan ng
Pamahalaan sa mga lalawigan sa kinabibilangang Rehiyon" in Araling Panlipunan
Subject and in Health subject I discussed them about "Pag-iwas at ligtas sa sakuna" I
taught them the road signs and how to be safe as a responsible passenger. I told them
that we need to follow the rules and regulation in schools and road especially the signs
because if we will not follow this we will able to encounter accidents. I told them to apply
this in their daily life and influence someone to do it also. I hope that what I told and
taught to them will help them a lot.
3rd Day (February 12, 2020)

I enter the room nicely and good. The children deeply smile at me and it makes me
motivated. It is hard to memorize their names but I believe that I will memorize it soon
as I continue to be with them. Madam Tereshelle give me an opportunity to teach Music
and Physical Education Subject to enhance my skills and speaking in front of the class.
It is hard to speak in front because all of their eyes are focus on me. In music I
discussed about the Tempo and Texture and In Physical Education, I discussed about
the Locomotor and Non-Locomotor movements together with exercises and
manipulatives. I also taught them basic exercises and warm ups. This will help them to
maintain their good health and good blood circulation.

4th Day (February 13, 2020)

This day I'm going to teach Arts Subject and I'm very happy because art subject is my
favorite subject, this subject will enhance your creativity and discover new things and
ideas. Today, what I did is to teach them how to make a hand puppet and Valentines
card since Valentine's Day is approaching. I told them that Valentine's day is the day of
love and we need to spread love to each and everyone. I told them that we need to love
our enemy. I gave them hours to finish and I told them to make their work beautiful and
creative. And later on, they pass it me and I saw that they did their work well and follow
my instructions. I taught them to be creative, be independent and use their time wisely.
And as long as you make your work creative then you will gain a high score and grade.

5th day (February 17, 2020)

As I continue my days in my work immersion, I feel that it is good to have a work. I can
now easily memorize their names. Today, I checked their papers, assignments,
activities and etc. I'm glad because they got a high scores and to those who get low
scores I teach them how to get the correct answers and in Health subject, I discussed
about "Kaligtasan sa sakayan at babaan", "Ligtas sa kalsada" and "Ligtas ka ba?". I
told them again that we need to be a responsible passenger to minimize cases and
accidents wherever we go. I taught them the meaning of the signs. I show and present
them pictures and I gave them time to tell what are the names and meaning of those
sign. I also explain it briefly. Today, I learned that you need to be patient and love what
you are doing. My fifth day in my work immersion brought me happy.

6th Day (February 18, 2020)

This day I'm going to do paper works. I filled up and marked the student's form 137-E
(Elementary School Permanent Record) for the Third grading period. And I observed
their strategies on how to compute grades. Some pupils have high grades and some
are low but the adviser give them projects to pass their grades. I learned that you need
to check carefully before fill-upping in this kind of formal school record because one
mistake has a big impact not just in the school but the children rather and he/she will
suffer due errors.

7th Day (February 19, 2020)

Today, I continue my work in fill upping paperwork. I filled up and marked the student's
form 137-E (grade 3) I also transferred files from the hard copy up to soft copy grades.
The children help me in my task by dictating while I'm typing. My teacher motivates me
to do my work and she help me and advices me. And today, I learned that you need to
be patient and do your responsibility well. I finished my work today and I'm hoping that
more works will come and I believe that "if there's a lot of work that comes then more
learnings will come".

8th Day (February 20, 2020)

I enter my class happily. The children hug me and play with me while waiting for the bell
to ring. The children gave me snacks, and they say that "Hi sir, I hope that this snack
will help you to teach us and give you strength". The children are sweet and appreciate
my work. I checked the student's assignment in mathematics and I'm glad because they
got a high score and to those who got a low score I teach them how to get the correct
answers and I also compute their first and second grading average. I learned that you
need to be patient, do and take your responsibility well.
9th Day (February 24, 2020)

My 9th day in my work immersion brought me vibes and I observed that I myself is
doing my job well and I feel that I love it. I enter the room early because I'm going to
make paper works and today, I input grades and transferred grades (Form 137-E) to/via
loptop. I also observed the children's attitude and I'm very happy to say that they are
silent when the teacher is discussing, they cooperate and participate well. And I learned
that time management is important and time is gold. We should always remember that
we need to give importance on it and don't waste it because you can't go back to past if
you lost it.

10th Day (February 26, 2020)

I enter the room early because I'm going to fill-up forms and today, what I've done is to
marked and input the grades (DepEd Form 137-E) of the grade 3, Sampaguita Section
since grade 1 to grade 3 (present). It is hard to fill up because I'm only one but I believe
in myself that I can and I will finish it and of course, I learned that you need to enjoy
your work and soon you'll develop your skills and soon you will use it as your guide for
your next step in your life.

11th Day (February 27, 2020)

My eleventh day of my immersion brought me motivation because when I enter the

room the children hug me and tell that they appreciates my work and today, what I've
done is to marked and input the grades (DepEd Form 137-E) of the grade 6 students
from grade 1 to grade 6. It is hard to fill up, my eyes surrender that's why I rest. Madam
Cayago told me to stop my work and continue on the other day but I tell her that I will
finish it, this is my work and I will do it and finish it in this day and she smile back at me.

12th Day (March 02, 2020)

I enter the room early because I'm going to continue my work and I have to finish it as
soon as possible. What I've done today is to input the grades of Grade 3 Sampaguita
section. I also make their form 137-E files. I make a lot of files but this help me to
enhance my skills while I'm marking grades I also observed their attitudes inside the
classroom. I told them that they need to behave to finish their work early and
successfully. I told them to minimize their noise because it has a great impact in the
whole class. My 12th day in my work immersion brought me inspirations.

13th Day (March 03, 2020)

My 13th day of my work immersion brought me good vibes, inspiration, and motivations.
I love what I'm doing and I also feel that the children love me. They always give me hug
and tell that I will not leave them and stay with them forever. But I told them that I will
not stay with them forever because we have time and day limit in my immersion. What
I've done today is to observe the children's attitude. Since the teacher is not in the
classroom this day. I'm the one who manage the class and I successfully did it. I teach
them stories, parables, farables, myths and etc. And I also tell them my hometown and
they were amaze. I love this day because I appreciate that the children are willing to
listen at me.

14th day (March 04, 2020)

I enter my class with a big and inspiring smile. I hug the children because I have only
one week left in my work immersion. What I've done today is to observe the children's
attitude. Since the teacher is not in the classroom. I told them that on Monday, they will
bring their arts materials because we are going to make a stick puppet and I also help
them in their seat works. I taught them how to get correct answer and answer question
completely. Today I learn that you need to take your responsibility and take critism. Be
patient and love what you are doing.

15th Day (March 05, 2020)

What I've done today is to observe the children's attitude. Since the teacher is not in the
classroom this day. I'm the one who manage the class and I successfully did it and they
were silent. There are five days left before I finished my work immersion that’s why you
need to do your responsibility and show to them that you can. Especially to you work
immersion supervisor, show to her your good work and do your work well. This brought
me motivation.

16th day (March 09, 2020)

Yes! This is my 16th day and I'm very glad again to accept and face works. What I've
done today is to input grades of Grade IV- Diamond. (Form 137-E) and I successfully
finished it and later on, in arts subject we make a tick puppet. I taught them again that
they should be creative to gain high scores. I learned that time management is very
important and I learn to accept and appreciate small things. This day brought me some
knowledges and inspiration to do your job well.

17th Day (March 10, 2020)

I enter the room with big and inspiring smile. Madam Cayago give opportunity to teach
to enhance gain my skill. My supervisor give all her best just to give me learnings and
I'm happy for that. In mathematics, I taught them how to convert centimeter to meter
and liter to millimeter. It is hard to teach children who didn't understand it well but I did
my best to teach them. In arts we make a mask ad it was very successful because they
finished it well and I gave them high scores because they did with well. I taught them to
be creative and just enjoy and love what you are doing.

18th (March 11, 2020)

This s my second to the last immersion day and I felt me sad. That's why I will do and
give my best just to inspire them and I want to leave them happy. And I told them that I
will not forget them because they are the key in my work training and without them this
will be nothing. Some children cried and hug me and I appreciate it too much. Today
what we have done is to apply their stick puppet by puppet showing and it was very
happy. The children are very creative and they act seriously. I love their facial
expressions and I appreciate that they are doing their task well. I learned and taught to
them that eye to eye contact is very important and I leave the class happy.

19th (March 12, 2020)

This is my last day, I felt sad but this sad motivates me to do my job well. And today,
Madam Cayago give me my lasts chance and day to teach. I promise to myself that I
will do my very best and what I've done is to review them on their examination questions
and I taught them that reviewing is very important to every students because you can
gain and get new knowledge on it. So that, when examination comes, they have
answers and they can easily answer their exams. I told them also that cheating is a bad
and it is crime and I rather taught them to be independent. Yes! It is my last day in work
immersion and I felt sad, I did my job! We take a picture together for remembrance and I
cried just because I'm Happy. The children give messages to me through letters and
personal and also my supervisor ma'am Tereshelle S. Cayago taught me and gave me
advises and this will help me in my next journey as an aspiring teacher. Thank You
SSCS!

Kyla Catherine C. Peralta

Narration of Work Immersion Daily Experience
1st Day (February 10, 2020)
It is my first day and my first task is to teach one of the students to read. I've also
checked their papers and I observed their behaviors. It has been a very tiring day but I
enjoy the engaging with the students. Today, I've learned that the children were very
naughty and noisy, so I need a lot of patience for me to be able to handle them.

2nd Day (February 11, 2020)

Today is my second day and I teach one of the students to write because he doesn’t
know how to write yet. It’s hard to catch the attention of kids but I tried my best to talk to
them in an interesting way. Today, I've learned how to teach properly and how to get
their attention so they can listen to me.

3rd Day (February 12, 2020)

Days have been passing by so quickly and today is already my third day. I observe the
children and teach one of the students how to write. There are children who doesn’t
want to listen especially when you are moralizing them. Today, I've learned that a child
will not listen when you are scolding them instead the best way to a child's heart is
through a good communication for him to be able to follow you.

4th Day (February 13, 2020)

Forth day has come and it became my daily immersion routine, to teach one of the
students how to read and write the basic vowels and I also taught him how to count.
That kid I’ve been teaching have difficulty in catching up their lessons. Fights are
inevitable inside a classroom especially to boys. So, I’ve learned how to handle such a
situation and the behavior of the students on situations like that.

5th Day (February 17, 2020)

Today is my fifth day, I teach the children to read, check the activities they did and I also
look-after the children while the teacher is out. I've learned how to handle nasty kids.
Also, I learned how to extend my patience to situations where children are disobedient.

6th Day (February 18, 2020)

Sixth day, I teach one of the students to read and write. I also observed as the teacher
taught them. I've learned that a child will listen better when you teach him/her with a
little bit of entertainment and instruct them carefully.

7th Day (February 19, 2020)

Today is my seventh day, I teach one of the students to read and write. I've learned that
the child will not follow you when you force him to do something.

8th Day (February 20, 2020)

Eight day, I looked after the students because the teacher had to attend a meeting. I let
them to do an activity which is drawing. I've learned that children will behave well when
they are enjoying what they are doing.

9th Day (February 24, 2020)

Ninth day, I taught on of the students to read and write. I also checked their activity. I've
learned how to control nasty and noisy children. Also, I learned that being naught and
noisy to boys are part of it.

10th Day (February 26, 2020)

Tenth day, each day become more tiring and challenging. I taught how to read and write
those children who can't read. Another one, there had been a reading evaluation for
children. I'm very happy that the kid I've been teaching since the first day of immersion
already know how to read. I've learned that kids nowadays find it hard to read. Maybe,
because they are focus on gadgets at home instead of learning how to read.

11th Day (February 27, 2020)

Eleventh day, I checked the activity they made and taught the two kids to read. I looked
after the children while the teacher is out. I’ve learned that teaching is hard but its fun.

12th Day (March 2, 2020)

Twelfth day, I taught one of the students to read. I’ve learned that technology has a lot
of impact on kids today. There are some kids who can’t read and write yet because they
prefer to play games on cellphones than to study.

13th Day (March 3, 2020)

Thirteenth day, I taught two of the students to read. I’ve learned that being a teacher
needs a lot of patience and understanding.

14th Day (March 4, 2020)

Fourteenth day, I taught two of the students how to read. I’ve learned that no matter
how naughty kids are, there is always a good side of them.

15th Day (March 5, 2020)

Fifteenth day, I taught one of the students to read and write. I’ve learned that I need to
extend my patience on children for me to handle them.

16th Day (March 9, 2020)

Sixteenth day, I taught some students how to read and I also wrote a poem on the
board from them to copy. I've learned that it's not easy to be a teacher because they
have a lot of responsibilities.

17th Day (March 10, 2020)

Seventeenth day, days are running before work immersion ends and I will always make
sure that each day will be happy and worth it. I taught three of the students to read.
Since few days before the end of immersion, I've learned that I should enjoy the rest of
my time with the kids because I would definitely miss their hugs every time I came in
and went home.

18th Day (March 11, 2020)

Eighteenth day, I gave a spelling activity and taught them to read and analyze the story.
Also, I checked their activities. I've learned how to manage the kids and I figure out the
activities they're enjoying to do.

19th Day (March 12, 2020)

Twentieth day, I gave the children a spelling activity and we had a story telling. Since
this is my last day, I enjoyed the time left I have with these kids and I’m sure that I will
miss their presence. I've learned how to manage kids and what activities they are
enjoying to do.

CONCLUSION and RECOMMENDATION

Conclusion

Santiago South Central School is good for all students who want to develop and
test their skills about teaching. Santiago South Central School will surely make your
work immersion days special and important. The Staffs and Teachers of the school give
respect and appreciation of every student's strength and weaknesses. They taught us
their strategies on how to handle the class properly and they taught us how to be a
good teacher and how to communicate to your pupils nicely. This school can show you
the importance of being attach of your students and for being loved by your students.
This school can give you information and knowledge that you want to know and that can
help you in your future career or job.

Nelson Mandella says that "Education is the most powerful weapon which we can use
to change the world!" The Santiago South Central School is the school that though us to
be serious in everything that can improve or help us in our career or future. The 76
hours that we spend on this school brought us knowledge, inspiration, motivations,
learnings and it is very worth it. The students here is very love, especially the class who
was assign to us. Every time we enter the room, the children always hug us and greets
us and this will help us to strengthen our self-confidence to do our job well. Our
supervisor helps us a lot. They are the best one to advice and guide us on how to do
good things not only for our own but also for our families. The Teachers of this school
thought us on their strategies on how to manage the class properly and how to teach
the pupils nicely and with confidently. Our supervisor taught us to be patient since we
are assigned to the lower grades, we expect that the children are noisy and we should
spend more patience since we are handling and teaching children. Yes! They are noisy
but in fact, you need to do your job and this is a big responsibility. Some of the staffs
and teacher in the office is strict and not approachable sometimes, that's why we feel
nervous every time that we enter the office of Santiago South Central School but we
understand them for being like that maybe, because they've just being a professional or
something for our sake, but overall Santiago South Central School is good and highly
educated school and we are very thankful because we learned a lot form this school
and those experiences, insights that we gained, knowledge and learnings will help us a
lot in our next journey and this will be our guide as an aspiring teacher someday

Recommendations

1. The Santiago South Central School must accept all the students that is willing
to work in the said school.

2. The teacher and staffs who's in the office should be approachable so that the
work immersionist should be able to do the task properly and with confident.
