    Roaming Configuration Procedure for MME

    To allow a subscriber to browse on the internet while roaming in a foreign network. There is two steps to be done:

    - Perform a MME Location update to be attached on the Visited MME


    - Perform A PDP context in order to open an Internet session

    MME Location update:

    In order to perform a LU, MME must have configured on its table the IMSI to MGT translation alongside the Global title
    range routing

    3 types of address are needed for the SGSN configuration:

    International Mobile Subscriber Identity : Used in identifying

    E212 subscribers and subscribers HLRs


    IMSI= Mobile Country code + Mobile network code + Mobile station
    Identification Number

    When the mobile is switch on in a foreign network, the Mobile station send its IMSI to the Visited MME. Imsi from simcard
    is converted into a destination realm to allow MME Location Update. The Destinatiion is the Home Network Address of the
    mobile. Once IMSI to realm conversion is done, the MME can send the Location Update to the foreign HSS/HLR to collect
    all subscriber information’s:

    MMS needs to send a Location Update to the HSS/HLR. In order to reach the home network, it will have to use a Diameter
    routing Agent. Therefore the address of the DRA needs also to be configured on the MME table too. Once configuration is
    done, then MME can send a LU to retrieve all subscriber data (PDP, QOS...) for the Mobile subscriber roaming.

    The visited MME will derive the home domain name of the LTE user with his IMSI. If for example the IMSI is
    26207xxxxxx then domain name will be epc.mnc.007.mcc.262.3gppnetwork.org ( this equal to O2 Germany).

    Visited MME will look up his routing table and identifies that the nest hope will be a diameter routing agent. The
    Diameter routing agent will receive a LU request from MME, and will forward it to the correct network according to
    the destination realm (epc.mnc007.mcc262.3gppnetwork. org). Usually MME has already an SCTP connection towards

    its home DRA. Its home DRA will also have a SCTP connection towards the International DRA which will be in charge of
    routing the Location update request.
