1. SCOPE
To make sure the safe start and stop of the CAT Generator set.

2. G3516 ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS

Rated Speed 1000


Number of Cylinders V-16
Bore 170 mm
Stroke 190 mm
Compression Ratio 12.5
Aspiration Turbocharged after-cooled
Displacement 69L
Firing Order 1-2-5-6-3-4-9-10-15-16-11-12-13-14-7-8
Rotation Counterclockwise

3. PRELIMINARY CHECKS

 Walk around inspection for any water/oil/gas leaks/loose bolts/worn


belts and trash build-up
 Check Air filter cleanliness
 Check gas supply valve
 Check fuel pressure
 Check battery charger
 Check battery connection terminals for poor connection and corrosion
 Check Radiator water level and Engine Oil level

4. STARTING THE ENGINE (MANUAL)

 Reset any Indication/Malfunction on the panel


 Start the engine by turning the Selector Switch to MANUAL position
 Blower and Radiator Switch to ON position
 Warm up the engine for approximately 05 minutes until the jacket water
temperature reaches 104 degF

5. SYNCHRONIZING AND LOAD SHARING

Cat A On Load & Synchronizing Cat B With Cat A

 Start CAT B on MANUAL


 Turn CAT B engine side selector switch to AUTO position
 Turn CAT B Engine Control Switch in control room to AUTO
position
 Turn CAT B Synchroscope switch to ON position
 Turn CAT B Circuit Breaker (CB) to AUTO position
 When CAT B synchronizes with CAT A, load is equally shared
 Turn CAT B Synchroscope switch to OFF position
 Put load sharing switch inside the panel of CAT A to DROOP
position.
 When load reaches about 20kW on CAT A manually TRIP/LOCK
OUT the Circuit Breaker
 Put load sharing switch inside the panel of CAT A to ISOCHRONOUS
position.
 Normal/Cool down stop CAT A
 Stop Blower motor and Radiator of CAT A
