Title: Exploring Deeper to the Depths of Social-Media Inclination

Social media is a field in the modern world that refers to the diversified range of technologies
that facilitate the sharing of insights, thoughts, ideas, and information among their collaborative users.
These varying engagement tools help users express themselves and communicate online through
messages, video chats, voice messages, and calls. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X (former Twitter),
and YouTube engages roughly 5.04 billion of the world's population by January 2024. It is estimated as
62% of the total population of the world has been freely immersing in these platforms, this is according
to the group Kepios. Social media continuously breaks down barriers as it brings us together no matter
where we are, fostering a genuine global community.

As the internet innovates rapidly, it delves us into a phase where we are reliant on it. By the
ways it provided, it helped us a lot and built a more convenient and efficient way to live. Moreover, as
we rely on social media, it helps us to do social networking more effectively and creates a more
profound link of communication with our relatives and friends, even those who live far away. Nowadays,
it is evident that many people, including younger generations, use social media more often.

However, as more and more people use the various social media platforms, the risks
associated with them are also gradually escalating. The negative impacts it bears are now greatly
affecting the society. Despite the convenience, efficiency, and fast service social media assures, we can
never hide the flaw that is within it, which raises the opposition. If we talk about bonding (face-to-face
bonding and societal connection), people tend to choose to meet each other on social media websites
rather than meeting physically and enjoying the company of each other. A psychologist once expressed
his concern that "the use of social networking sites as opposed to face-to-face involvement could lead
to major health problems.” This means that it significantly increases the risk of some people developing
serious health implications due to the lack of face-to-face interactions. Additionally, he claims that
“spending too much time online could lead to social isolation, loneliness, and a negative outlook. These
types of psychological symptoms could eventually lead to more serious health concerns, such as heart
disease, cancer, and dementia." With this being said, using social media disturbs deep bonds with
others. When people use social media, they do not need to move from time too often. It is okay to stay.
We do not need to become active. As a result, it leads naturally to more sufferable mental and
physical disorders. In other words, as we engage more in using these platforms, this significantly
increases our chance of developing serious physical and mental health problems. increasing the threat
to our lives even more. As we immerse more, the damage it creates is heightened, decreasing our
safety and health.

Next, social media affects academic performance of students who are inclined with it most of
the time. Many studies suggests that learners who spend more time on social media, lacks time
management and thus became less productive in their classes. As in some cases, students are more
likely to be distracted by social media platforms, notifications, and virtual materials. This leads to poor
academic reconcilation and affects students' self esteem.

Lastly, the social media can corrupt the thoughts of people. In this online platforms
cyberbullying and cybersecurity are among major concerns. With regards to moral obligation in
maintaining peace and using the platform responsibly, this concerns is a widespread phenomena that
happens worldwide. According to researches, cyberbullying perpetrators causes loss of self-esteem,
depression, anxiety, isolation, stress, fatigue, suicidal ideation, and many more serious mental
weariness. This negative impact also is one of the major causes of poor academic performance.

In conclusion, if we balance the use of social media and refrain from the addiction it gives. We
could protect ourselves and the community. If humanity knew how to use social media properly, we
could build a safer society away from its negative effects. As social media bears two identities, both
negative and positive. And as it offers benefits that enable us to experience the advantages of
technology, it has a dark shadow that creeps in and can catch us. It is up to us to use social media
responsibly and to promote a greater sense of connection in our society. We are tasked with this moral
obligation to obtain social media and to use it cautiously everyone's sake and for a smoother navigation
towards the depth and uncertainties of life.
