I. INTRODUCTION
It has been about two years since Notre-Dame Siena College of General Santos
City held online sessions; as a result, the school's facilities, notably the kiosks, have
become ragged and unmaintained. Students require a space to relax, rest, and study
now that face-to-face sessions are being held.
The canteen is crowded, especially during lunch break, now that there are
students at school, and the school avoids overcrowding places as much as possible for
the safety of the pupils due to the fact that there are still COVID-19 instances.
Furthermore, due of the location, some students choose to have their lunch and snacks
at the kiosks. However, there are only a few kiosks near the basketball court, their
usage is only available to a small number of students, and the kiosks are not in good
enough condition to accommodate a large number of students.
The kiosks deteriorated and were hazardous to use as time passed and they
were not used. The kiosks' foundations might collapse at any time, putting the kids in
peril. Because the kiosks were not maintained, it faded off over time. Students complain
about the kiosks, alleging that they can't use them since they're all taken by other pupils
that the kiosks aren't sturdy enough to accommodate a huge number of students.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The kiosks have been there for a long time, it witnessed a lot of events and
catered a lot of batches of students however since the 2 years lockdown and the
pandemic that happened, it hadn’t been in its best shape. The kiosks now are not well-
maintained and the foundation is deteriorating. Although students can still occupy the
kiosks, it’s not guaranteed that they find comfort while staying there.
The school’s field is a nice place to relax and enjoy, especially when it’s windy.
This is one of the reasons why students like to stay there because of the fresh
ambiance that it gives. The open field, although windy, is still so hot but thanks to the
kiosks, students can enjoy under the shade and spend time with their friend. The
problem is that the kiosks doesn’t fully serve its purpose – to provide maximum comfort
to students while staying there. The purpose of this proposal is to assess the kiosks
capability to cater a lot of students during their break times. Knowing that face to face
classes was now made possible, the number of kiosks available are not enough to cater
the number of students that fill the cafeteria since almost all grade levels are crowding
the school ground. This aims to suggest to the school to renovate the old kiosks and to
add new ones so that the comfort and safety of the students are addressed.
OBJECTIVES
We came up with a solution to this problem since the previous kiosks were
starting to come apart and were no longer secure enough to use. In addition, we
proposed establishing more kiosks so that many students could use them, and the area
for the new kiosks will be large enough to accommodate many students. Its goal is to
provide a secure and stable environment for students to relax and spend their free time
in the kiosks, as well as for students to dine there.
The old kiosks will be renovated to guarantee the safety of the students while
they utilize the space. The purpose of the refurbishment is for the old kiosks to be as
good as new and more stable than they are now. It will be safer to use for both students
and teachers who choose to utilize it. It will be fully functional for students and teachers.
The goal in establishing new kiosks is to build a sturdy, safe, and comfortable
kiosk. We wish to upgrade the looks of the kiosks and make it big so that there will be
no limitations in students who can use it. Kiosks with high-quality construction that are
safe and sturdy to occupy. And safe-to-use kiosks that will be used in the coming years.
II. DATA PRESENTATION AND ANALYSIS
Pie Chart 1: Students' Satisfaction Level with the Kiosks Near the Basketball Court
As evaluated by ten (10) randomly selected students, they are neither satisfied
nor dissatisfied with the kiosks near the basketball court (60%); (20%) are
dissatisfied and highly dissatisfied.
Pie Chart 2: Students' Satisfaction Level with the Kiosks’ Capacity Near the Basketball
Court
As evaluated by ten (10) randomly selected students, they are neither satisfied
nor dissatisfied with the kiosks’ capacity (30%); dissatisfied (30%); and satisfied
(30%), and the kiosks’ students capacity is highly dissatisfied (10%).
III. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
CONCLUSION
From the presented data, it is safe to conclude that the kiosks near the basketball
court is not in its best shape based from the majority of the answers that are neither
dissatisfied nor satisfied while the remaining 20% were dissatisfied and highly
dissatisfied. Since none of the participants were at least satisfied with the kiosks, it
clearly shows that the kiosks can’t provide comfort to students. This suggests the need
to renovate the old kiosks.
Also, from the results of the kiosks capacity, only 30% are satisfied while the
remaining 70% are not. This could only show that the 30% were able to use the kiosks
while the remaining were not because of their dissatisfaction. This result suggests the
need to establish more kiosks near the area to cater more students. The survey results
are the evidence of the majority of students not being satisfied with the kiosks, from its
comfort to its capacity to cater students. In response to this data, it is a must to renovate
the kiosk and be able to establish new ones to give them better memories of this school
and allow them to fully experience what Siena could offer.
RECOMMENDATION
1. The kiosks near the basketball court need to be renovated so that students can use
them effectively. Because it is not stable enough, it may actually harm the students. The
kiosks should be renovated with high-quality construction that is safe and sturdy to
occupy, as well as kiosks that are safe to use in the future. In addition, students will not
be crammed into the canteen and eat in the hallways. Renovating the kiosks will be of
much help for the students’ well-being at school.
2. New kiosks that can accommodate a large number of students should be built. The
school should fund the construction of new kiosks for the benefit of students and those
who will use them in the future. It is to provide them with a comfortable learning
environment at school where they can spend their free time with their friends and
classmates, study, complete their performance tasks, and participate in other school
activities, as well as eating during lunch and recess to avoid overcrowding in the
canteen for their safety and health, where a large number of students can enjoy and
occupy the kiosk.
