Inaccuracy In Cinderella Man
The film Cinderella Man is based on a true story of an Irish American boxer. During
The Great Depression, ex boxer due to an injury James J. Braddock (Russell Crowe)
works as a day labourer until his former manager Joe Gould (Paul Giamatti) offers him
a one time fight against a young rising boxer. After Jim had a shocking win he goes
back to boxing full time despite his concerned wife Mae Braddock (Renée Zellweger).
Nicknamed The Cinderella Man for his rags to riches story, Jim is set out to fight the

In the film, Max is depicted as a ruthless fighter who manifests inappropriate behaviour.
Although in reality, Max s fighting style was very powerful he was actually a very
caring person. Also, in the film they made it seem as if Max had killed two people in
the boxing ring but in reality, he had only killed one and his name was Frankie
Campbell. After this incident, Max was traumatized by what he had done and became
a different fighter and man. Nothing that ever happened to me nothing that can
happen to me affected me like the death of Frankie Campbell, he said, shortly after the
fight with Carnera. It was almost a week after the fight before I could get more than an
hour or so of successive sleep. Every slightest detail would come racing back to mind,
and I couldn t blot from my eyes the last scene Frankie unconscious in the ring, his
handlers working on him. And then the news that he was dying ... dead. . After this
experience, Max s fighting style was much less aggressive and he began to smoke and
have nightmares. Although he continued his boxing career the death of Frankie
Campbell was always fresh in Max s mind. There was also an inaccuracy regarding a
key piece of Baer s clothing. Historically, Baer wore a prominent Star of David on his
boxing shorts, representing his pride for the Jewish people at a time when Hitler s Nazi
persecution of the Jews in Germany was initiating. In the film, the Star

African Americans And Reconstruction Essay
Throughout the duration of the Civil War in 1861 to the 1920s, African Americans made
significant strides toward their advancement in America and toward equity with whites.
After having being subjected to white governance and enslaved for so long, their
dependence generated a sense of unfamiliarity with their newly acquired emancipation.
This uncertainty sparked many debates regarding the most effectual way to go about
receiving their inalienable rights as human beings, not merely substandard Negros as
they were perceived to be. However, some thought that the most effective approach would
be to acquiesce to the subservient status upheld by whites in order to earn their respect
until equity permeated. Others were more combative in their... Show more content on

Moreover, the subsequent time period following the war was deemed the period of
Reconstruction, a time of mending a restoration after the detriment of war. However, it
was during that time that southern whites attempted to regress back to enslavement by
perpetuating their preeminence over blacks and instituting restraints on the rights of the
freshly freedmen. Such measures as the Black Codes and the KKK were implemented
within the South to regulate the actions of African Americans as though they were in
slavery but without the security of safety that comes with being considered property.
Though chattel slavery had been abolished, the abruptness of its termination left several
pertinent issues unresolved in relation to the status of African Americans. The terms of
the war only required the southern states to remove the succession clause from their state
constitutions. However, in spite of its connotation of brutality, the period of
Reconstruction was also beneficial in some repute as it established public education for
both blacks and whites. Although their predicament didn t improve much, gradually there
was a transformation in the manner in which African Americans regarded themselves.
