2nd Forum for PhD Students and

Young Researchers on The role of
Saharan bioresources
on food security

TOPICS

1.Saharan plant and animal diversity

2.Saharan water-soil environments
3.Valorization of Saharan products

UNIVERSITY OF OUARGLA
Saharan bio-resources play a crucial role
in preserving the ecosystem and ensuring
food security on multiple levels. These
arid regions harbor unique biological
diversity, hosting plants adapted to local
conditions, drought-resistant crops, and
animal species thriving in a vulnerable and
hostile environment. This diversity
provides crucial options for developing
varieties resistant to extreme conditions, Objectives
thereby contributing to a more stable food
supply. 1.Explore Technological Innovations:
Examine the latest technological
advancements in agriculture, water
conservation, and soil management to
maximize yields and minimize environmental
footprint.
2. Promote Awareness: Raise awareness
among participants about current issues
related to food security in arid regions,
highlighting the crucial importance of Saharan
bio-resources.
3. Propose Adaptation Strategies: Stimulate
research on new food sources from Saharan
bio-resources, with a focus on sustainability,
nutrition, and food security.

Importante dates
It is important to emphasize that this day
holds special significance in the history of
the laboratory (Saharan Bio-resources:
Preservation and Valorization) as we Submission Abstracts: 07th January 2024
celebrate its 20th anniversary since its Acceptance: 10th January 2024
inception. Over these two decades, this
laboratory has played a key role in
research and development related to
Saharan bio-resources. Commemorating https://forms.gle/xr7uTsu1pL938nHJA
this anniversary would add significant
value through exchanges among specialists
while highlighting the laboratory's
continued commitment to scientific
