Objectives
A. CONTENT STANDARD
The learner demonstrates understanding of whole numbers up
to 10 000, ordinal numbers up to 100th, and money up to Php 1000.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learner is able to recognize, represent, compare, and order
whole numbers up to 10 000, and money up to Php 1000 in various
forms and contexts.
Activity 1: Pre-Assessment
-The Philippine is composed of 7,107 island. What is 7,107 to the nearest thousands?
The number od islands in the Philippines, rounded off to the nearest thousands,
is 7000.
Here is how to round off big numbers without using a number line. Study the
following chart.

Step 2. Look at the digit to the right of the rounding place. If it is less than 5, do not
change the digit in the rounding place. If it is 5 more, increase the digit in the rounding
place by 1.

The digit is 5, do increase 3 by 1, it becomes 4.
Step 3. Challenge all digit to the right of the rounding place to zeros.
35 615 40 000
So, 35,615 rounded off to the nearest ten thousands is 40 000
