To make 1L of solution
Pour 800 ml of water into Add 15 g (1 Tbsp.) of HTH Add 30 g (2 Tbsp.) of Add 18 g NaDCC granules
your container, then add to 1 L of water.. bleaching powder to to 1 L of water.
200 ml of liquid bleach. 1 L of water.
Pour 8 L of water into a Add 150 g (10 Tbsp.) of Add 300 g (20 Tbsp.) of Add 364 g (24 Tbsp..)
20 L bucket, then add 2 L HTH to 10 L of water. bleaching powder to 10 L NaDCC granules to 20 L
of liquid bleach. of water. of water.
NEVER add water to chlorine. This can cause an explosion. Always add chlorine to water!
Use a bigger container than your desired quantity of Chlorine solution, to avoid spillage.
For the powders/granules, let the solution settle and use the clear liquid.
Cover container with lid. Do not store in direct sunlight and protect from heat.
Liquid Chlorine
Add the specified volume of bleach to the volume of water to prepare the desired volume of 1% chlorine solution.
5% Bleach 200 mL 1L 2L 3L 4L
Water 800 mL 4L 8L 12 L 16 L
Chlorine-based powder
Dissolve the specified quantity of chlorine-based powder in the total volume of water to prepare the desired volume
of 1% chlorine solution.

* The calculated dose of NaDCC 55% to dissolve in 1 litre of water is 18 g (1¼ Tbsp.) However, for practicality and simplicity, you can dissolve 1 Tbsp. knowing
that the final chlorine solution will be slightly less than 1% and it will require adding more chlorine in the Modified Horrocks test for batch chlorination.
Another option is to add 30 g (2 Tbsp.) to 1.5 litres of water.
** The calculated dose of Chlorinated lime 30% to dissolve in 1 litre of water is 34 g (2¼ Tbsp.) However, for practicality and simplicity, you can dissolve
30 g (2 Tbsp.) knowing that the final chlorine solution will be slightly less than 1% and it will require adding more chlorine in the Modified Horrocks test for
batch chlorination.
