1. What is HRM? What is recruitment?


HRM: process of acquiring, training, appraising &compensating employees, and of attending
to their labor relations, health and safety, and fairness concern.
Recruiting refers to the process of identifying, attracting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and
onboarding employees. It involves everything from the identification of a staffing need to
filling it.
2. What is the difference between internal and external recruitment?
Internal recruitment:
- Promotion: means an employee receives a job with more authority and responsibility than
his present job
- Transfer: refers to a job or department change for a worker
 Internal recruitment means that a person chosen for the position is selected from the
current employees of the company.
External recruitment
- At university campuses: looking for employees with special training or education.
- From other firms(competitors): seeking for level managers.
- Advertising in newspaper/professional publications
- Paying a fee or commission to an executive placement service
3. What are Reward and Remuneration (R&R)?
Compensation describes the cash rewards paid to employees in exchange for the services
they provide. It may include base salary, wages, incentive and/or commission. Total
compensation includes cash reward as well as any other company benefits.
 R&R helps organizations to improve staff retention and rewarding by advising on
compensation management in areas such as incentives opportunities, bonuses
 R&R: HR’s in determining the level of salary and benefits for a position or employee
in an important factor in the attraction, engagement, motivation, retention of
employees/
4. The difference between job description and the person specification
Job description: is a useful, plain language tool that explains the tasks, duties, responsibilities
and functions of a position. It includes
- Some basic information about the company
- Title of the position
- Duties and responsibilities
- Qualifications
- Salary+ fringe benefits (paid vacation, medical insurance, sick leave, pension, retirement
plan…)
- What to do if he is interested in the position

Person specification: is a description of the qualifications, skills, experience, knowledge,


other attributes (selection criteria) which a candidate must possess to perform the job duties.
The specification should be derived from the job description and forms the foundation for the
recruitment process.
5. The process of selection
The process of selection is a a process in which help recruiters decide which applicants is
best suited for the job . Some activities include:
1. Screening (a process used to determine for determine a job applicant’s qualification and
potential job fit for a position to which they have applied)
2. Eliminating unsuitable candidates
3. Conducting an examination (aptitude test/intelligence test/performance test/personality
test)
4. Interviews
5. Checking references (it can be through formal letters, telephone, conversations.)
6. Selection decision (the final decision has to be made out of applicant who have passed
preliminary interviews, tests, final interview, reference checks)
7. Medical test/physical examination: after the selection decision is made, the candidate is
required to undergo a physical fitness test
6. The difference between selection and recruitment
Recruitment Selection
Refers to the process of identifying and Is concerned with picking the right

7. What is the personnel department preparation for the interview? What does
probationary period mean?
Personnel department preparation for the interview:
- Produce a formal job description.
- Qualification for the job: professional duties and responsibilities of the job training/skills
needed
- Salary and fringe benefits.
Probationary period: A probationary period should only be long enough for the employee to
demonstrate their suitability for the job. Where it differs from trial period is that the
probationary employee can’t be dismissed without a good reason and the employer must still
follow correct procedures for dismissal (employee are exempt from certain contractual items,
most importantly the notice period requires for termination
The probationary period allows both employee and employer to see if they are a good fit and
to make thing easier if they need to terminate the contract.
8. What is time management? (Unit 4)
- Time management is the process of organizing and planning how to divide your time b/t
specific activities. Good time management enables you to work smarter not harder so that you
get more done in less time, even when time is tight and pressures are high.
- Time management has come up as a subject in the management field to reach the goal of
increasing productivity, especially among white collar workers for whom work output may be
hard to measure.

9. What to do to choose the best candidates? (Unit 2)
- Testing (written tests)
- Assigning points for certain items experience /education.
- Totaling points and select ones with the highest totals.
- Inviting the best qualified applicants to an interview
- Judging their personality and ability to work with others
What does dismissal mean?
=> Dismissal: A dismissal is when you end an employer's contract, with or without notice.
Dismissal from work also occurs when an employee's fixed-term contract expires and you
choose not to renew it.
An employer dismisses the services of this employee due to their behavior, performance or other
personal factors. Termination: An employer no longer requires an employee's services for the
tasks and duties at hand.
10. Make a list of the kinds of interviews (Unit 2 )
=> Some kinds of interviews
1. Traditional one-to-one interviews
2. Panel interviews (where one or more candidates are interviewed by a panel of interviews)
3. Deep-end interviews (where applicants have to demonstrate how they can code in actual
business situations)
4. Progress interviews (interviews where employees have a chance to review the work they are
doing and to set objectives for the future. Such interviews usually take place after a new
employee has been working with a company for several months, and then they may take place
once or twice a year.
11. What does "Employee Relations" mean? (ER) (Unit 3)
=> It is an important feature of modern life.
Communications between management and employees, concerning workplace decisions,
grievances, conflicts, problem resolutions, unions and issues of collective bargaining
OR Employee relations (ER) is the term that defines the relationship between employers and
employees. ER focuses both on individual and collective relationships in the workplace with an
increasing emphasis on the relationship between managers and their team members.
Why is an employer-employee relationship important for an organization?
⇒The relationship between an employer and an employee is a key deciding factor because it is
very important to have mutual trust. An employer should trust his employee and an employee
should trust his employer. This trust factor actually helps in building a relationship between both
parties.
12. Find out all the things which can cause problems in the company (Unit 3)
=> GRIEVANCES (problems):
- Things you are being asked to do as part of your job
- The terms and conditions of your employment contract (your pay/ benefits....)
- The way you're being treated at work - for example, if you're not given a promotion when you
think you should be.
- Bullying
- Discrimination at work - for example, you might think your work colleagues are harassing you
because of your race, age, disability, or sexual orientation
13. What is industrial relation? What is the role of trade union
Look after the interest of the workers/ Trade union, also called labour union, association of
workers in a particular trade, industry, or company created for the purpose of securing
improvements in pay, benefits, working conditions, or social and political status through
collective bargaining
Industrial relations (IR) or employment relations is the multidisciplinary academic field (lĩnh vực
đa ngành) that studies the employment relationship; that is, the complex interrelations between
employers and employees, labor/ trade unions, employer organizations and the state
