GREETINGS

Good morning, my dear students! I’m happy to be Good morning too, Ms. Shery! We’re glad to see
here for a fruitful learning today. you again.

Ms. _______, kindly lead the prayer. (A student will stand up and go in front to lead the
prayer)

Please bow our heads and feel the presence of the

Lord.

“Dear God, may we throw your blessings. Add

purity to the world. Subtract evil from our lives.
Multiply your good news. Divide your gifts and
share them with others. Amen!”

(Students arranged their chairs properly. They pick

up the garbages and properly throw it to the trash
bin)
Please arrange your chairs properly. Pick up the
garbage below your chairs and throw it in the trash
can.

CHECKING OF ATTENDANCE

May I call the class secretary to report who is Class secretary: I’m happy to tell you that all of my
absent today? classmates are present today!

Again, let me remind you again of our classroom

regulations.

1. Raise your hand if you wish to respond.

2. There will be no yelling and shouting of
"Ma’am! Ma’am! Ma’am me!” If you engage
in those actions, I will not contact you.
3. 3. There will be no use of electronics.
4. 4. There will be no talking during the
discussion.
5. 5. Respect one another

Class, do you understand the rules?

Okay, so what are you going to do with those
rules? Yes, Ma’am!
We will obey and follow, Ma’am.

RECALL

Last meeting, our topic was all about what? (Student raise their hands )

Yes, Ms. Santos (Stand up)

Ma’am, last meeting our topic was adding and
subtracting rational expressions.
Thank you, Ma’am.
Very good! Thank you, Ms. Santos. You may take
your seat.

Mr. Manalo what we did in adding and subtracting (Stand up)

rational expressions?
Ma’am, by combining the expression or performing
the operation in the given, if they are the same
denominator. And copy the denominator
Okay, very good!
(Stand up)
How about the different denominators, what are we Ma’am, if the denominators are not the same, we
going to do? Ms. Castro? perform the getting of LCD or Least Common
Denominator and convert the fraction into similar
fractions.
Very good!

Yes, Ma’am. (chorus)

Now, are we all clear in the adding and
subtracting?

MOTIVATION

Before we move into our lesson, we’re going to Okay, Ma’am!

play a game, guess the word.

The mechanics of the game;

I prepared a 5 set of words that every one of you

should guess. The class will be divided into boys
and girls.
All words are not yet revealed and your task is to
guess each letter that the word possibly contains.
Only one student at a time can guess a letter and if
you got a correct letter you can proceed until you
guess the word.
If ever you got a wrong letter, your other
classmates have the chance to guess a letter or
the word itself. Whoever got the correct word will
win and disregard who has guessed more letters
and will have additional 2 points in the next activity.
Are you all ready?
Okay so, for round one!
1 word, 3 syllables We’re all ready! (Chorus)
Who wants to get first?

Okay Miss Lara, what is your first guess letter? (Students started to raise their hands)

Letter A, Ma’am!

Hmmm…. First letter guess is A

Very good, there is an A in the word. It's in the first

and last letter of the word.

Continue, what's your second guess?

Ohhh I’m sorry, there’s no letter E here.

Letter E, Ma’am?
Next, who wants to guess?
Okay, Mr. Kimpee?

(Boys started to raise their hands)

Okay, very good it's in the second letter of the
word.
Another guess Kimpee?
Ma’am, I guess letter B!
Very good, our fourth letter in the word.

We have now A B _ C _ _ _ A Ahm, letter C!

Another guess from the boys?

Mr. Angelo? Do you have a guess?

Sorry but no letter D in our first word (Started to raise their hands)

From the girls? Jenna, what’s you think?

Letter D, Ma’am
Let us see? CORRECT!
You found the letter A B _ C I _ _ A
Letter I, Ma’am
Do you think you can guess the word or another
letter ?

Very good! The word is ABSCISSA

Ma’am, I think the word is ABSCISSA?

Girls win this round you can do it boys!

Let’s proceed to round 2

(Clapping their hands)
Six letters, One word, three syllables

Girls, because you win the round one, who wants

you to guess first boys or you?

Okay boys, who wants to answer ?

(Give the honor for boys to guess first)

Okay, Jaro?

So sorry but there’s no letter A here in our word

(student raised hand)

Girls? Who wants to steal ?

Ma’am, I guess letter A
Okay Nhilet. Letter I, we have a letter I.

(Girls started to raise their hands)

__I_I_

Ma’am I guess letter I?

Second guess Nhilet?
Letter O is correct!

O_I_I_

I guess, letter O?
Do you guess the word or another letter?

ORIGIN is correct!
Another score for the girls

Ma’am, I guess the word is ORIGIN?

We proceed in round 3

(Claps their hands)

Eight letters, one word, and two syllables

Girls, do you want to guess first?

Okay boys, who wants to guess first?

Ma’am we would like to give it to boys
Rafael, what is your first guess?
Letter A is correct
__A__A__ (Boys raised their hand)

Another guess Rafael? Letter A?

We have letter D, verygood

__AD_A__
Another Rafael? Ma’am, letter D?

Letter N, you got it right

__AD_AN_
Ma’am, Letter N?
Another letter guess or you want to guess the word
? So, that your group will have the chance to win
this round.

QUADRANT is correct
Ma’am I guess the word is QUADRANT?

Two points for girls and 1 point for boys

Let us proceed to round 4, if girls win this round

they will be the winner. But if the boys win this
round, we will have a tie breaker. Okay?
Yes, Ma’am!

14 letters, 2 words, and 4 syllables

Boys, who wants you to guess first?

Girls, who wants to guess?

Ma’am, we are gentlemens here, we will give the
honor to the girls to guess first.
Okay, Lyka?
We have a letter A, very good
(Girls raised their hands)
_ A _ _ E _ _ A _ _ _A _ _

Another guess, Lyka?

Ma’am, letter A?
Correct! We have the letter E.

_ A _ _ E _ _ A _ _ _A _ E

Letter E?
Another guess?
I_ A _ _ E _ I A _ _ _A _ E

You're lucky to pick the vowels. Another guess?

Letter I, Ma’am?
Let’s see? Oh, no! Sad to say there’s no letter O in
our word.

Boys, you have the chance to steal the word. I will continue the vowels, letter O?
LESSON PROPER

Now, proceed to our lesson 7, The Rectangular

Coordinate System.

I know that all of you are familiar with this topic.

Mr. Mansanao, any ideas on our topic today?

About plotting a point, Ma’am?

Very good!

So, what is the Rectangular Coordinate System?

It is known as the Cartesian Coordinate System,

named after Rene Descartes, who popularized its
use in analytic geometry and it is based on a grid,
and every point on the plane can be identified by a
unique x and y axis.

The Cartesian plane is formed by using two real

number lines intersecting at right angles..

The horizontal real number line is called the x -axis

and the vertical real number line is called y - axis.

The point of intersection of those two axes is the

origin.
The two axes divide the plane into four regions
called QUADRANTS.

It starts from the upper right of the plane going

counterclockwise.

Each point corresponds to an ordered pair called

coordinates.

Here in quadrant 1, x is greater than zero and y is

also greater than zero, they are both positive.
In quadrant 2, x is less than zero and is greater
than zero, the x is negative and y is positive.
In quadrant 3, x is less than zero and y is also less
than zero, they are both negative.
In quadrant 4, x is greater than zero and y is less
than zero, the x is positive and y is negative.

Now in the first example, we are going to plot

points in the same coordinate plane.

Point A (1,3), B (2,-1), C(-2,-2), and D(-3,3)

Point A(1,3) - start from the origin, move 1 unit to
the right and move 3 units up.

Point B(2,-1) - move 2 units to the right and move 1

unit down.
Point C(-2,-2) - move 2 units to the left and move 2
units down.

Point D(-3,3) - move 3 units to the left and move 3

units up

That’s how to plot the points in the coordinate

plane.

Did you all understand ?

Example no. 2
We will state the coordinates and the location if its
in quadrants or axis of each point of the following

Yes, Ma’am! (Chorus)

We will count how many units we move from the
origin.

At point A, we move 4 units to the right and move 2

units up.

We have x which is 4 and y is 2 and the coordinate

is (4,2), and they are both positive. It means the
location is quadrant 1.

At point B, we moved 4 units up, does it mean our

x is Zero and y is 4, the coordinate is (0,4) and as
you can See the point is in y - axis and that is the
location of the point.

At point C, we were going to move 2 units to the

left andMove 2 units up and the coordinate is (-2,2)
and theLocation is in quadrant 2.

At point D, we will move 4 units to the left and that

is all.Our x is -4 and y is zero and the location is in
the x-axis.

At point E, we will move 2 units to the left and

move 4 units down, the coordinate is (-2,-4) and
they are both negative. The location is quadrant 3.

And last, point F we will move 3 units to the right

and move 3 units down. The coordinate is (3,-3)
and the locationIs in quadrant 4.

Are we clear in our lesson?

Any questions?
Yes, Ma’am! (Chorus)
None, Ma’am (Chorus)

GENERALIZATION

Again, a rectangular coordinate system, or a (Student raised their hands)

cartesian coordinate system, consist of what?
Yes, Ms. Caryl?
Ma’am, It consists of two intersecting and
perpendicular axes.

Very good! And what are axes, Mr. Jonjie? It is x-axis and y-axis-
Very good! What is the ordered pair of real Ma’am, x and y. The x as a first coordinate and y as
numbers? a second coordinate.-

Thank you, Jonjie!

Ms. Manalo, it is written as (x,y). So, x and y stand Ma’am x stands for abscissa and y stands for
for? odinate.

Very good! Thank you, Ms. Manalo!

Any questions? None, Ma’am! (chorus)

Now that you all know about the rectangular

coordinate system it's time for you to do an
exercise.
APPLICATION

Now for your activity, open your book at page 166.

A 1-5 and 167 B. 11-15
I give you 20 minutes to answer, okay? Then, I will
call random students to answer on the board.
Yes, Ma’am (Chorus)

Page 166 A. 1-5

Graph each point in one coordinate plane
(Random students on the board)

1. A(4,--3)

2. B(-6,0)
3. C(-2,5)

4. D(0,7)

5. E(0,0)
Page 167 B. 11-15
Name the coordinate of each point and identify the
location,
Answer:

11. M (1,6) QI

12. N (4,4) QI

13. O (0,0) origin

14. P (-3,5) QII

15. Q (-5,0) x-axis

Now you all are familiar with plotting a point in

cartesian plane.

EVALUATION

I think it's already time.

So, I will give you an assignment so that you can Yes, Ma’am! (Chorus)
practice more. Okay?

ASSIGNMENT:
Point S, T, U, V, W

Do you have any questions? Clarification ? None, Ma’am! (Chorus)

Then if you don’t have any questions, let’s call it a

day.

Goodbye and thank you class!

Goodbye and thank you for teaching us today,
