A Detailed Lesson Plan in Physical Education

Grade: Grade 9 Quarter/Semester: 2nd Quarter

I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

 Identify and explain the basic steps in Cha-cha-cha.


 Show appreciation while executing the different steps in Cha-cha-cha.
 Demonstrate accuracy in the execution of the basic steps accompanied with music.

II. Subject Matter

Rhythms and Dance: Ballroom (cha-cha-cha)

Materials: Projector, Video clip, Laptop, Music, and Speaker

Motivation:
Move it! Spell it!

Today we will start our lesson with an activity,


entitled “Move it! Spell it!”. Try to observe what
is shown on the video slide. Each video slide will
show gestures that will tell about the steps in the
dance. You will be guided with the jumbled
letters to reveal the correct answer.

Lesson Proper:

I. Presentation of the lesson

That’s great! Today we will be proceeding to the


basic steps in cha-cha-cha. As such you are all
expected to:

In dancing the cha-cha-cha, the first thing you


need to master is the step pattern and its
counting.

Does anyone of you have an idea of its step


pattern/counting?

Step Pattern: Slow, slow, quick, quick, slow The step pattern is slow, slow, quick, quick, slow.
Counting: 2 3 4 and 1 The counting is 2 3 4 and 1

So, for us to further know about our lesson, Let’s


have a counter demonstration of the basic steps
in cha-cha-cha. I will demonstrate to you the
steps in cha-cha-cha, and you are going to follow.
Try to get the proper execution of the steps
because afterwards, you will be making your own
Cha-cha-cha routine.

Is it clear? Yes, Ma’am/Sir.

So, here are the basic step in cha-cha-cha: (The students will follow the demonstration of
the teacher)

2. Sidestep
3. Alemana Turn
4. New York
5. Spot Turn

Activity/Application

Now that you have learned the basic steps in cha-


cha-cha. It's about time to make your own
routine using the basic steps I demonstrated
earlier. You will be grouped into 5 groups and
each group should consist of 5 members. You
can combine all the steps and create at least 4
figures of 16 counts each. And for you to be
guided on your activity, your performance will be
graded according to the following rubric.
