Too Quick to Judge

On a sunny morning, Lily the 20-year-old woman was ready with a picture book in her bag.
She walked along the city’s streets to get to the city park where Lily would start his activities,
drawing. After getting one empty chair, she sat down and started opening the picture book.
Painting anything that caught her attention, without feeling disturbed by the many of people
who went back and forth crossing it. Even when a man suddenly put a bag next to her.
His name is Jack, he used to be visiting a city park for a little exercise in the morning. As
usual, after putting his bag he began to put up earphones in his ear and prepared to run. One
round, two rounds he continued to do the next rounds.
His breath began to pant and his throat felt dry. Jack forgot didn’t bring the drink, he
murmured, “Hah, I’m very thirsty, I should bring the water earlier.” Jack began to step
towards the place where he put his bag.
While sitting and straightening his legs, Jack glanced at the girl next to him was still cool
with a pen and the sketch book on his lap. “He was very smart to draw” Jack inner when he
glanced a little of the work of the girl beside him. Accidentally Jack’s eyes saw a bottle of
pink borne beside the girl. Given his throat that had not been drained by water, Jack wanted
to ask for a little water belonging to the girl.
“Hey, what’s your name?” Jack asked with a smile. Not receiving a response, Jack tried
again to ask the girl, “Um, can I have some of your drinking water? I’m very thirsty and
unfortunately I didn’t bring any drinking water.” But again Lily didn’t budge at all.
Jack was starting to get annoyed, he made sure there were no earphones blocking the ears of
the girl beside him. Slightly lowering his tone, Jack said again, “Your painting are very
beautiful, you must be very talented.” But again, Lily didn’t even respond to the compliment
that Jack gave, she was still busy giving details in the picture.
Extremely annoyed, Jack got up from his seat quickly. He slung his bag over his shoulder
and stared at her coldly. “Hey, I know you’re a beautiful and talented girl, but it’s not worth
it if you don’t have an attitude. I just want to get to know you, can’t you show a little
manners?” Jack said with emotion and immediately left the girl.
Lily realized when her eyes accidentally caught the emotional expression of the man next to
her before he left. Lily didn’t hear what the man said earlier. Lily, the girl has a hearing
impairment, so she can’t hear. Lily sighed, with guilt in her mind. Her mind was racing,
“Maybe the man asked me to talk, but unfortunately I couldn’t hear him.”
As Lily looked at her almost finished drawing, she began to smile. “Hope this doesn’t make
him angry again.” Lily thought. Next, Lily immediately finished her painting and left the
painting on her seat with her pink bottle which would prevent the paper from flying.
A few moments later, Jack returned to the chair where he and the girl were sitting. He don’t
know what brought him back here. But when his eyes caught a drawing paper and a pink
bottle, he felt confused. Until finally the writing on the paper explained all the
misunderstandings he had so far.
“Sorry, my name is Lily, I’m deaf”
“Oh god I am too quick to judge her” Jack regretted his words earlier, he shouldn’t have
immediately judged the girl for not having an attitude. He should have been more patient and
tried to understand her condition. Jack slowly walked away with drawing paper and a pink
bottle in both hands.
