Enhanced Safety – Thermal Monitoring
“I want to prevent electrical fires in my facility and have a solution to detect abnormal temperature rises in my conductors. This
is important at both the MV and LV level.”

WITH thermal monitoring

Avoid Electrical Fires

˃ Wireless sensors installed on busbar help continuously

monitor temperature via central data concentrator.
˃ Avoid the cost of periodic and manual 3rd party IR scan
audits
˃ Pre-alarm in Edge Control software as early detection of
conditions that could cause fires WITHOUT thermal monitoring

˃ With optional expert advisor services, reduce total cost of

ownership by 60% through continuous improvement
˃ With optional expert advisor services, optimize
maintenance through more streamlined maintenance
planning and scheduling.
˃ Refer below Video for Complete End 2 End Thermal
Monitoring solutions on Ecostruxure

Enhanced Safety – Arc Flash Detection
“I want to prevent electrical ARC Flash in my facility and have a solution to detect ARC rises in my conductors. This is important
at MV levels.”

Avoid Electrical Fire from Arc Flash

WITH ARC
˃ Light Pulse sensors installed within enclosure help SENSORS
continuously monitor electrical arc via central data
concentrator.
˃ An arc is developed within a millisecond. Released
energy is proportional to ~ I² x t (R x I² x t). Same gets
cleared within 57ms.
˃ Activation on Lux & Current .

Fire Rating

Confidential Property of Schneider Electric | Page 27

Fire Rating of E-house Wall at
Transformer Side
(4 Hrs fire rated)
• A fire-resistance rating typically means the duration for
which a passive fire protection system can withstand a
standard fire resistance test. This can be quantified simply
as a measure of time, or it may entail a host of other
criteria, involving other evidence of functionality or fitness
for purpose.

What are your needs?
And how GIS can help to fulfill them Introduction

You want With our GIS you get

> Low maintenance

> Smaller footprint = Smaller costs
Lower the costs > No gas handling on site
> No additional costs for more safety

> Arc resistant

> No live parts accessible
Ensure people safety > Enclosure grounded (touch proof)
> No maintenance = No risks for the people

GIS is designed to avoid failure

> Not affected by environmental conditions
Continuity of service > Low maintenance = Low risks for assets
> High flexibility
> Mitigate the risk of arc flash

Schneider Electric - Energy Business Product Marketing- Pritam Mahangare 66

Evolution Of MV GIS
3Genx
➢ No gas handling at site
➢ Provides Fastest/ Safe Erection
2Genx ➢ No Chance of Bus Insulation damage
➢ Takes care our earlier problems ➢Middle panel can be removed without
1Genx ➢ But Precision required in Erection affecting panels on it’s sides

➢ No Inter-panel gas segregation ➢ Chance of Bus Insulation damage

Gas Insulated Switchgear
➢ Leakage Detection is difficult ➢Complete Dismantling required to
GIS since 2004 ..
➢ Gas Handling at site remove middle panels
Latest in MV GIS Range
➢ Large Space required ➢No Control over SF6 Gas usage
➢ Less reliable insulation

functional units. FBX is a fully SF6-insulated switchboard for secondary underground
distribution networks. It is insensible to environment, flood proof tested, virtually Utilities
maintenance free and very easy to install and operate.

Application
Mains technical performances • Utilities Substations & distribution network and KIOSK,
• Rated current 630A inside tower
• Rated short time withstand current: 21KA/ 3secs
• Internal Arc withstand 21kA/1s

Key benefits:

Customer Needs
Compact:
In its compact version (FBX-C)acts as a RMU, includes up to five different functions into • RMU for Secondary Distribution, line protection, transformer
a single tank & can be easily integrated into a substation or wind tower mast. protection and line switch.
Extensible:
In its extensible version (FBX-E), it becomes a fully modular switchboard suitable for
industrial applications.

How to promote a {product/ solution}:

Value proposition
•Large compact range so flexibility. With modular extensible solutions,
Very compact range: For a 3 function unit, it offer the best in class footprint of 1000mm FBX cover a wide and large applications in network management
in width which is the smallest RMU in the market. solutions. Easy installation. No maintenance on MV parts. Minimum
maintenance of operating mechanism ,safety ,spacious cable chamber

Modular range offers maximum flexibility for adaptation to the requirements of any
substation.

Reliability levels

3 Main reasons for customer peace of mind

▪ Risk of maintenance? Forget of MV Maintenance…

Solid insulation is shielded (all MV surface is at earth potential)
No more electrical field in free air. Avoid insulation ageing since
it’s not stressed. OPEX reduced up to 50% compared with
AIS or SIS

▪ Harsh environment withstand

MV insensitive to dust, humidity, pollution, etc

▪ Lifetime increased by 30%

Reliability - Pushing Premset to its limits
A real case : Peru success story

• Trujillo City, the third most populous in Peru, suffered the worst weather in the
last two decades due to heavy rains & muddy rivers, causing several
casualties & unmesurable material losses.

• From the material point of view, Premset (180 fcts installed). Switchgear remains
intact Nothing happened . Water reached 80 cm and resisted without major issues.
