What Is Industry?
Many people think of industry as the collective large-scale manufacturing of goods in well-
organized plants with a high degree of automation and specialization. Although this is a common
example of industry, it can also include other commercial activities that provide goods and services
such as agriculture, transportation, hospitality, and many others

industrial building
A building directly used in manufacturing or technically productive enterprises. Industrial buildings
are not generally or typically accessible to other than workers. Industrial buildings include
buildings used directly in the production of power, the manufacture of products, the mining of raw
materials, and the storage of textiles, petroleum products, wood and paper products, chemicals,
plastics, and metals

What is an Industrial Park?

When thinking of a part of a city that is chosen, prearranged and zoned for industrial development,
the term industrial park or site comes to mind. The word industrial makes mention to any
company that produces goods. An industrial park is defined as an area of the city that is set up for
industrial use only instead of residential or commercial use. Industrial parks may include
warehouses, distribution supply hubs, and other factories. An industrial park may also be called a
trading estate or industrial estate. An industrial park consists of land that is only designated to
support activity from an industrial infrastructure. Industrial parks are usually located in zones that
are not within the central residential area of a city. Those zones are made up of transportation
facilities such as railroads, ports, airports, and freeways. Industrial parks may also include other
businesses such as storage facilities, plants that house chemicals, and steel and beverage companies

What is industrial farming?

Industrial farming is the process of raising animals and growing crops in concentrated
environments. Agricultural employees who engage in industrial farming use modern technology to
facilitate the rapid growth of plants and livestock. The main goal of industrial farming is to increase
the amount of food that farmers produce for every unit of land they manage.

TYPES OF INDUSTRIES
1 Primary industry
Primary industries are those that harvest or extract raw material from nature, such as agriculture,
oil and gas extraction, logging and forestry, mining, fishing, and trapping primarily contains
operations in which raw materials are extracted from their industries.

2 Secondary Industries Classification

Manufacturing industries

Construction industries

Extractive Heavy industries

3 Tertiary Industries

This industry focuses on intangible services which generate gains and income. Service industries
play a pivotal role in the economy since they offer employment to a huge portion of the population
in our country.

Tertiary Industries Classification

 Financial services Entertainment

 Software industries Health care

 Education Marketing services

 Hospitality
BEVERAGE INDUSTRY

The beverage industry (also known as the drink industry) manufactures drinks and ready-to-drink
products. Examples are bottled water, soft drinks, energy drinks, milk products, coffee and tea-
based products, nutritional beverages, and alcohol.

The beverage industry is traditionally a market with specific high demands regarding hygiene and
its related technologies.
The beverage industry consists of two major categories:
o Alcoholic beverage industry: The alcoholic beverage industry includes distilled spirits,
(sparkling) wine, cider, and brewing.
o Non-alcoholic beverage industry: The non-alcoholic beverage industry is comprised of soft
drink (or soft beverage industry) or syrup manufacture; soft drink and water bottling and
canning), fruit juices bottling, canning, and boxing, the coffee industry, and the tea industry.
TYPES BEVERAGE DRINK

 Water. ,MILK, Carbonated drinks ,Juice and plant drinks, beer, cider, wine, spirits etc……
.
Carbonation:
IT IS A beverage production and it contains bubbles of carbon dioxide.
Examples of carbonated beverages include soft drinks, sparkling water (seltzer water), and
carbonated wine, which has many characteristics of fermented sparkling wine but is less expensive
to produce.

. DESIGN PARAMETER
SCALE -In very general terms scale refers to an item's size in relationship to something else. For
example, the components of a building may be designed so they are at a human scale, they are
comfortable to use, are functional and anthropometric, or manufacturing can be carried out at scale,
rather than for one-offs..

Typically, Architecture deals with different types of scale:

 Human scale: The human interaction with environments based on physical dimensions
Capabilitiy and limits. Buildings can be designed with greater or lesser adherence to
the concepts of human scale depending on the concept and purpose of the building.
 Intimate scale: This is a smaller, more personal scale.
 Monumental scale: This is much larger than human scale and is intended to be impressive,
e.g. public buildings, memorials, religious buildings, and so on.
 Proportion: This refers to the relative size of parts of a whole, the relationship between two
things of different size.

BULIDING MATERALS

The majority of industrial building superstructures are framed in structural steel, although a small
percentage are in precast concrete. Steel is used primarily for its large strength-to-weight ratio,
enabling it to span large distances economically.
steel frames can be used to build large structures with wide open interior spaces, helping to make
steel ideal for the construction of factory buildings or warehouses.
Steel is an incredibly versatile building material and can be used to create flexible designs which are
easily extended at a later date if required.
Steel framed buildings are quick and easy to construct. The steel frame is manufactured off-site in a
factory controlled environment, with all parts delivered ready to be screwed and bolted together.
This helps to keep construction time to an absolute minimum, helping to reduce the overall cost of
the build

INDUSTRIAL BUILDING DESIGN STANDARDS:

A. Context:
All building designs shall consider surrounding or nearby buildings and developments and
implement design solutions which are sensitive to those nearby buildings and developments.

B. Architectural Form and Detail:

1. If adjacent to a residential zoning district, an additional building setback of ten feet (10') shall
be provided adjacent to the residential use to reduce the visual impact of large-scale industrial
buildings. The additional ten feet (10') shall be landscaped with trees to provide buffering and shall
not include parking, vehicular access, or storage areas for equipment or mechanical systems. Those
uses may exist beyond the ten foot (10') buffer.
2. The mass and scale of large, box-like industrial buildings shall be reduced through the
incorporation of varying building heights, setbacks, and or building projections along the front or
primary street sides of building facades.
A Facades of large buildings visible from a street hall include:
B Architectural features such as reveals;
C Windows and openings; and
D Changes in color and either texture or material to add interest to the building elevation
and reduce its visual mass.
3]. Primary building entries shall be readily identifiable and well defined through columns, roof
structures, or other design elements. The primary building entries shall be clearly articulated to
indicate a transition from the exterior to the interior of the building.
Every main entrance shall have a special emphasis when compared to the other portions of the
building.

C. Accessory Buildings:
1. The design of accessory buildings shall be incorporated into and be compatible with the
overall design of the project and the main buildings on the site.
2. Temporary buildings shall not to be located where they will be visible from adjoining public
streets.

D. Building Additions:
1. All additions to existing buildings shall incorporate the predominant architectural
features, materials, and colors of the existing building.
