The reason to study Mechanical engineering at The Hanze university of Applied Sciences is because I
possess a mindset which tends to strive for creative and technical implementations. The world around
us is changing rapidly. And humans are the one responsible for the changes. So it is also our
responsibility to guide other people, so that they can make themselves familiar with the newest
technologies in a way that seems to be user-friendly, convenient and with interactive engagement with
the technology. A belief is, in order to understand people’s problems better, we need to put on their
shoes and see the world from their perspective inorder to find a solution to a problem.
Coming from Bangladesh, our huge proportion of the economy is driven by majorly driven conventional
educational fields without having the urge to establish more value through innovation and sustainability.
However, most research centres, universities, and industries lack the innovative culture. So, the
situation over there is deprived of the fact that we can achieve better results and make outstanding
changes by applying our creativity with the innovative mindset.
After going through a comprehensive review of the curriculum and context of Mechanical Engineering,
my interest in this field has significantly increased as it will help me grow as an engineer, designer,
innovator and most appealingly an entrepreneur. My mode of motivation, belief in my capabilities and
level of adaptability along with the teachings of Mechanical Engineering would definitely come in handy,
in order to strive forward towards a compelling goal. With a firm belief in my mindset, I’m capable of
making rapid changes and improvements to present world-problems by coming up with innovative
solutions. Because instead of settling down with convention, I choose to progress. With my capability, I
strongly believe that I would be able to bring qualitatively designed technology that would bring
convenience in the hands of citizens by increasing their standard of living. Adding to that, achieving
sustainable and economic growth through creative innovation is the key to progress in today’s
competitive world. Moreover, as I took courses from industrial designing engineering, I’m strongly
capable of identifying a market opportunity, defining problems and coming up with a suitable solution by
creating a product that can be both attractive and functional by combining concepts of materials and
mechanical process with the practicality of designs and functions. And in my creations and ideas, there
is an adequate involvement of smart technology which emphasises on easing people’s life by using my
products. One of my ideas in this scenario is to establish Digital signage at the Campus. It would
provide visitors, students and staff with directions around the campus making navigation very easy and
understandable. A digitally connected experience would boost the interaction between students, faculty
and other employees in a proactive manner. And my desire to make the campus more user-friendly
would definitely be reflected by undertaking the programme of creative technology.
In regards to studying Mechanical Engineering at Hanze, I seek to combine all the knowledge I have
gathered over the years and try to deepen my understanding of creativity blended with technology in the
context of human interactive methods. I have decided to go down this route which involves more
mechanics and technical aspects compared to other disciplines, because of my greater interest in
technical functionality, design process, user interactions, prototype development combined with my
ability to solve problems and the happiness I take in, while I develop a product that serves the society’s
desired goal. I feel that this is my ardent passion that will enable me to succeed as an innovative
engineer and entrepreneur during the years that I will be studying at this course. Hence, Studying
Mechanical Engineering would only foster my growth allowing me to contribute significantly in this field of
education, nonetheless the society.
