The TLE 9 – ICT (Contact Center Services) Activity Sheet will help you
facilitate the leaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning
Competency (MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and
learner. This will be made available to the learners with the references/links to ease
the independent learning.
I. Learning Competency
Apply computer basic operation procedures; Check basic peripheral devices
based on proper connection. (TLE_ICTCC9CO-Ia-j-1)
THE COMPUTER
Classification of Computers:
1. According to Purpose
a. General-Purpose Computers – have the capability of dealing with a variety
of different problems, and are able to act in response to programs created to
meet different needs.
b. Special-Purpose Computers – designed to perform only one specific task.
3. According to Capacity
a. Supercomputers – biggest and fastest machines today; enormously
powerful computers used to perform the most complex mathematical and
scientific calculations. They are used to study quantum physics, mechanics,
weather forecasting and molecular theory.
b. Large Computers – contain full control systems with minimal operator
intervention.
c. Medium-Sized Computers (Servers) – provide faster operating speed and
larger storage capacities than minicomputers. Running on them are
programs that serve client requests and allocate resources like memory and
time to client machines. They have large processors and many hard drives.
d. Minicomputers – mainframes; provide faster operating speed and larger
storage capacities than microcomputer systems; used for highly critical
applications such as bulk data processing.
e. Microcomputers – use a microprocessor; has a programmable ROM and
RAM (ROM – Read-Only Memory – defines the instructions to be executed
by the computer; RAM – Random Access Memory – functional equivalent of
the computer memory); best choice for single-user tasks
