I. INTRODUCTION
A network is a group of two or more computers or other electronic devices that are
interconnected for the purpose of exchanging data and sharing resources. In
information technology, a network is defined as the connection of at least two computer
systems, either by a cable or a wireless connection. The simplest network is a
combination of two computers connected by a cable. This type of network is called a
peer-to-peer network. There is no hierarchy in this network; both participants have
equal privileges. Each computer has access to the data of the other device and can
share resources such as disk space, applications or peripheral devices (printers, etc.).

Today’s networks tend to be a bit more complex and don’t just consist of two
computers. Systems with more than ten participants usually use client-server networks.
In these networks, a central computer (server) provides resources to the other
participants in the network (clients).

In this case study it contains the Proposed Network Layout, where the physical
layout of the designed network can be seen. Network Topology Used, this section will
discuss what physical topology used in the created designed network. Description of
Networking Hardware Used, where all the hardware used in networking will be
discussed that includes cables and connectors to be use, operating system, system
requirements for each PC, network protocols, types of Network Interface Card to be
used, hub/switch/router, and the internetwork devices. Cost Estimation, it is where all
the cost will be listed one by one showing the price of each hardware used and also the
labor for the people who installed it. Lastly, the Conclusion,

We will make a network design for a school that has two (2) buildings and each
building has different departments and it has two (2) computers. Every department
consists of two (2) PC that is connected to their own switch and those switches is
connected to the main building switch that is connected to the router, leading a
connection to the server.

III. NETWORK TOPOLOGY USED

Star Wired Bus Topology
We chose to use the Star Wired Bus Topology because it is simple to
remove the troublesome component without disrupting the entire network in the
event of a node assault or cable or component malfunction. As a result, there is
no latency in the production environment in the communication between all
nodes. It is simple to add and remove new components without completely
changing the topology of the network. Even when there are heavy loads, the star
bus topology performs well and it works nicely for wide-area networks. Every host
in a star bus network is connected to a hub, which serves as the network's hub
and controls all connections made through the network as well as data transfer
between the nodes connected to the network's transmission and reception.
One of the most often used computer network topologies in homes and
offices is the star bus topology. Each computer in this place is connected to a
central hub via point-to-point connections. It could be a network management
node's central hub or a computer server. It is a straightforward component that
creates connections between various pieces of hardware, computers, or, if
possible, the complete network. The network can be deployed in a variety of
ways and adjusted as needed. A central hub and the workstation get
disconnected in a star bus topology if any cable fails. The rest of the network
continues to operate, and just the impacted workstation is isolated. The impacted
workstation is isolated, so they are unable to interact with it. Due to its use of
adaptable connectors and flexible wires, it is simple to use, comprehend, and
install at a low cost, and it offers a quick process. Complex routing protocols can
be managed with ease thanks to the network's dependability and flexibility.
Similar to a convex polygon, the center function's maintenance is economical,
and because of the low system needs, the computers are positioned close to the
vertices, because the communication process as a whole is not impacted by the
failure of a single computer. As the network's bottleneck, the hub can quickly
extend the network to meet its capacity while maintaining traffic flow, which is the
star bus topology's unsettling behavior. A hub is the only component of the
network that is trustworthy, making it easy to fix any connectivity issues at a
single location.

IV. DESCRIPTION OF NETWORKING HARDWARE USED Cables and Connectors to be

used
- Fiber Optic Cable Connector
- Twisted Pair Cable Connectors Operating System

- Microsoft Windows 10 x64 for all devices

System Requirements for each PC

Computer Science, Engineering, and Architecture students need high-spec PCs
for demanding coursework such as programming and rendering design. The PC
must have specs that support these tasks effectively and efficiently, allowing
students to perform their coursework without hindrance. This Systems that meet or
exceed the following specifications:

Processor (CPU): Intel Core i5 or i7(at least latest generation)

Memory: At least 16 GB RAM
Storage: 512 GB Internal Solid-State Drive (SSD) or 1 TB internal HDD
Monitor/Display: 24” LCD monitor
Network Adaptor: 802.11ac 2.4/5 GHz wireless adapter
Office work or study
For offices and students, this specification is useful for more light work such as
Microsoft Office like word processing, spreadsheet, for browsing the internet or
doing some research, and other such activities. This Systems that meet or exceed
the following specifications:
Processor (CPU): Intel Core i3 or i5 (At least 10th Generation or above)
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Storage: 500 GB Internal Storage Drive

Monitor/Display: 15” LCD monitor

Network Adaptor: 802.11ac 2.4/5 GHz wireless adapter

Network Protocols Network Communication – TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol)

TCP/IP is a flexible, scalable, and secure solution for managing school
networks and is well-suited for the needs of educational institutions.

Network Management – SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol)

SNMP is a cost-effective and scalable solution for managing school networks and
provides a centralized and comprehensive view of the network, making it easier for
network administrators to identify and resolve problems.

Network Security – SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)

SSL is a cost-effective and flexible solution for securing communications on school
networks, providing encryption, authentication, and user trust, while also helping
schools meet regulatory and compliance requirements.

Types of Network Interface Card to be used

On-board Network Interface Cards (NICs) are commonly used in schools due to
their cost-effectiveness and ease of integration with the motherboard. They are
suitable for basic network needs such as internet access and local network
communication. On-board NICs are a good choice for schools with limited budgets
and basic network requirements.

VI. CONCLUSION
We designed a network that is applicable for school networking, for each
building and departments, how it will be connected using network devices such
as switches and routers. The topology used and hardware used in designing
network is discussed as well as its price, together with the labor for 6 persons.
