Ramesses Timeline

1279 BC: Ramesses II is crowned pharaoh of Egypt.

1274 BC: Ramesses II leads the Egyptian army to victory at the Battle of Kadesh against the Hittite
Empire.

1270 BC: Ramesses II begins construction of the Ramesseum, his mortuary temple.

1260 BC: Ramesses II builds the Abu Simbel temples.

1255 BC: Ramesses II dies and is succeeded by his son, Merneptah.
