As your pencil creates marks on paper, allow your eyes to look carefully and you will nd something that you did not notice before......it could be an object from our collection, a corner of the building that you like, a tiny detail on a carpet or even a person in the distance. Learn more about drawing and recording the elements of art. Join us on this sketching tour and rediscover the artist in yourself! This tour is more than just looking at our collection. Through observation, sketching and drawing you will become art detectives - can you nd the clues to the age of an object the material it was made from? or even where it was made? Be led through the galleries by our own dedicated educator or follow your own curiosity and engage with your own family at your own pace. Duration: 3:30pm -6:30pm Friday: 7th, 14th, 21th, 28th Location: Museum Atrium. No booking required

Islamic Coins

This workshop aims to help learners identify coins and manufactured items from different Islamic eras. We will look closely at Islamic Numismatics, in particular, the importance of studying this science. Participants will produce a large coin containing an object from MIA Duration: 9:00am -12:00 noon Monday: 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31th Wednesday: 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th Age Group: 8 -14 years. Be part of Qatars rst Fashion Week by joining this series of workshops to design and make a fabulous fashion statement. Basing your idea or concept on our collections, join us in this innovative project. This workshop is more than just an art class for toddlers. It is a unique learning experience where you and your child can fully engage in a wonderfully rich environment, given opportunities to interpret and discuss MIAs treasures in a warm and informal setting. We will work collectively on a larger than life scroll inspired by the 14th century Hajj Certicate. Parents will be able to unleash their inner-child and children, their inner-artists. A Special Workshop Opportunity Calligraphy Discovery Workshop
Internationally known calligrapher Mohamed Zakariya will lead a special interest workshop on the techniques and technology of calligraphy and the appreciation of calligraphy in the modern world. Noted artists and calligraphers from Doha will join Mohamed Zakariya and Museum of Islamic Art curator Michelle Walton in a discussion and a demonstration of his unique style of Calligraphy.
