Basis of Design
OBJECT:
The proposed Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) has been designed to treat 100 KL/Day Sewage to prescribed outlet
standards. This proposal is for design, supply, installation and commissioning of the system.

The proposed STP is designed to treat Sewage with following characteristics:

Operating Hours : 20 Mode of Operation : Semi Automatic
Nature of Effluent : Domestic Sewage Daily Average Flow : 100 KLD
Average Flow : 5.0 m3 /hour Peak Flow : 12.5 m3 /hour
SN Parameters Raw Effluent Treated Water
(After Tertiary)
1 pH 6.5-8.5 6.5-8.5
2 BOD 3 250-300 mg/l <20 mg/l
3 COD 600-700 mg/l <60 mg/l
4 TSS 200-250 mg/l <10 mg/l
5 OIL & Grease Up to 50 mg/l <5 mg/l

Electricity At one point within the battery limit
Outlet At the outlet of Discharge from Activated Carbon Filter
Advantages of MBBR/FAB
It is one of the most efficient technologies “FLUIDIZED AERATION”, in case of Modular STP with Biological
Decomposition/ treatment, which provides a number of benefits over the conventional system as:
Smaller floor space - Needs approx. the half of land than conventional system.
Assured quality – Two aeration reactors (in series) ensure maximum decomposition by eradicating the
chances of contaminant slippage.
No/ Less Civil Construction – System can be supplied as Pre-fabricated packaged/ semi-package unit.
Fast Execution – System installation can be very fast in terms of No/ Less Civil jobs.
Low Operational Cost – In view of less Electrical Power consumption system runnin expenses are approx.
half of conventional system.
Ease of Operation & Maintenance – In view of smaller size, less quantity of air required, Low sludge
generation,, smaller size of aeration grid, free floating removable Bio Media etc. make the proposed system
OPERATION & MAINTENANCE FRIENDLY.
Reduction in the volume of bio-reactor.
reactor.
Highly active for nitrification & de-nitrification.
nitrification. Highly flexible, hence can be easily modified. No requirement of
bio-mass recirculation.
Simple operation & control.

Treatment Scheme
The treatment scheme for the STP plant will consist of following main equipments:-
• Bar Screen Chamber
• Oil & Grease Trap
• Equalization cum Collection Tank
• MBBR Reactor Tank 1 & 2
• Secondary tube settler Tank
• Chlorine Contact Tank
• Multi Grade Filter
• Activated Carbon Filter
• Sludge Handling Unit

Uses of Treated Water:

• Horticulture, Washing
Process Description
Bar Screen The wastewater coming to the the plant is mainly generated throug the washroom, toilets,
and kitchen. This contains free oil, emulsified oil, soap and vegetables. This water is
initially fed to a bar screen. The larger impurities like clothes, plastics vegetables are
trapped in the bar screen.
Oil & Grease Trap The screened water flow towards oil & grease trap and settled there for around Quarter
an hour. Due to its natural properties of lighter then water the oil & grease float on
water surface and water from the bottom flows towards equalization tank and oil and
grease from top get clear time to time as convenient of the operator.
Equalization Tank The wastewater from the Oil & Grease Trap chamber is collected in the Equalization
Tank to homogenize the Effluent parameters then it is pumped to MBBR Reactors.
FAB/MBBR Reactors Water from anoxic tank will flows in to the FAB/MBBR reactor where biological
decomposition takes place with the help of Micro-organism
organism in Aeration tank where
micro-organisms
organisms get activated in the presence of oxygen. en. In this section biological
treatment takes place. The aerobic environment in the aeration tank shall be achieved
by the use of fine bubble diffused aeration, which also serves to maintain the liquor in a
completely mixed regime. This process converts thethe biological impurities into the form
of sludge flocks.
Secondary Tube The water then is fed to the specially design settler which is called Tube settler. The
Settler sludge flocks settles in the conical bottom and the clear liquid overflows from the top of
the tube settler. The clear liquid from the tube settler enters into the chlorine contact
tank
Chlorine Contact Water gets stored here and this tank also provides feed for tertiary treatment.
Tank
Multi-grade Filter Water From the chlorine contact ta tank
nk is pumped to the Multi grade sand Filter and
Activated Carbon filter for the final filtration. The multi-grade
grade filter is used to remove
the total suspended solids, dirt, iron and reduce silt and to provide TSS free water
Activated Carbon The ACF (Activated Carbon Filter) is used to further polish the water and to remove the
Filter total color, smell, odor, from the water.
Sludge Dry Beds Sludge from settler will be Transfer through sludge transfer pump to sludge dry beds.
