PROCEDURES:
 WARM-UP
Aim: to warm Ss up

Timing: 2’
Interaction: T-S-S

The teacher starts off the lesson by greeting the Ss, marking the absentees and checking
homework

 ACTIVITY 1

Aim: To create a relaxed atmosphere in the classroom.


Timing: 5’
Interaction: T-Ss-Ss
T starts off by giving random question cards to Ss. The words on the cards are jumbled so the Ss must
first read the correct question form and then answer it.

See Appendix 1.

 ACTIVITY 2
Aim: To develop Ss’ speaking skills
To practise reading
To learn new vocabulary related to music
Timing: 15’
Interaction: T-Ss-Ss

The teacher engages the Ss into a short discussion about music and then writes the title of the
lesson on the whiteboard. Ss are then asked to go to page 134 in the textbook and read the text
from exercise 2. Ss write down the unknown words and match the pictures with the words in
bold.
 ACTIVITY 3
Aim: To understand the difference between string, wind and percussion instruments.
Timing: 15’
Interaction: T-Ss-Ss
The teacher asks Ss to do exercise 4 from page 134 and then ecourages them to listen and watch
the following piece of music. Teacher asks the Ss to pay attention to the instruments that are used
and identify them using the words learnt in the previous activity.
 ACTIVITY 4
Aim: To revise present continuous tense
Timing: 5’
Interaction: T-Ss-Ss
Ss are given a worksheet with the lyrics of Lemon Tree and they must fill in the gaps
with the correct word.

 ACTIVITY 5
Aim: To practise the lyrics
Timing: 5’
Interaction: T-Ss-Ss
Ss are asked to sing the song and practise the lyrics. The teacher rewards the Ss with chocolate MMs
from the Zero Waste Store that is situated in the back of the classroom.

 ACTIVITY 6
Aim: To give feedback
Timing: 3’
Interaction: T-Ss-Ss

Ss are asked to do a short menti in order to give feedback to the teacher. Ss go to menti.com and
introduce the code 46237450
T gives homework.
