Statement of Purpose
I have always believed to set a goal, focused on it, achieve the goal and then again set another
goal to achieve that. With the work experience of two and half years that has imparted the
basic skills and knowledge of the professional field; I would like to put my next step to
achieve my goal by pursuing Master degree in Management Information System. In the
complex and interconnected world of international business, the science of information
management is increasingly important. With my extensive educational background in
computers, I have become quite interested and skilled in this area. However, if I am to
prepare myself for the challenges of a successful future career, it is essential that I combine
my background in computers with further education in management. Such an education will
give me a unique competitive advantage in the international workplace. The master’s
program in Information Management at your university is therefore ideal for my professional
goals.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad
(Affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru technological University, Hyderabad). My interests towards
Management and Computers did not decrease though my Specialization was Electrical
Engineering during my undergraduate. I was an organiser for various events which helped me
to manage situations carefully. I was awarded with a gold medal in my 2nd year and with a
silver medal in my final for my excellence in academics. I would like to build my career
further in Graduates by gaining more and more achievements like these. I have done an
Internship at BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited) one of the renowned Electrical
Company in India. During my final year of Engineering, I was appointed as a Placement
Coordinator for my class, which involved close working with Placement cell.
Simultaneously, I got placed in India’s Largest IT company TCS (Tata Consultancy
Services).
I had developed my interests towards Coding by attending many courses in C, C++ and Java.
Since transition from a college life to a corporate one is very tough, my trainings at TCS has
helped me a lot in transforming myself completely to a corporate world. I was one of the top
10 students during my training and was also the Class Representative for my batch which
helped me in coordinating and balancing work and management activities. After my training
at TCS, I was mapped to CITI bank under Banking Services. Initially, it was very difficult for
me to get adjusted, but with my team’s guidance I was able to cope up and develop a new
application for my Project. I was awarded with “Star of the Year” which they give for a
member in a team for successful delivery of the Project. Once I gained a year experience, I
was given a separate application to work along with 3 members in my Team. I had a chance
to Groom the new comers about the Project.
I extended my career in learning a new domain, PEGA. After working on a Java Project, I
had a chance to work in PEGA under the same Manager. Currently, I am working on PEGA
and promoted to look after a team of 6 members. I have received two “On the Spot” awards
for my excellence in the Project with PEGA.
I would like to continue my career in future by obtaining a Master’s Degree in a reputed
university so that I could excel at what I do. In today’s challenging world, I would like to
develop my Managerial and Technical skills which is very important. Management in
Information Systems would be one of the best path to choose considering my Work
Experience and interests. I started exploring the details of the courses offered as a part of this
degree and have decided that Masters in this field would help me greatly to improve my skill
set and knowledge on the topics of my interests.
Management Information System (MIS) program at University of Texas at Arlington, would
fulfil the goal that I have set for myself. After reading through the graduate program literature
and the department website, I am convinced that the faculty and the facilities in your
university are excellent and the environment is highly conducive for the subjects that I am
interested in. I strongly desire to continue my further education in courses offered at you
university for MIS. If given an opportunity, I assure you my dedication and diligence and my
desire to excel would allow me to make a remarkable contribution to the university. Once I
graduate from your esteemed university, I would be uniquely prepared to face the challenges
that the corporate world has to offer.
I firmly believe that the role of Information systems management would be of prime
importance to the businesses across the globe in the upcoming years. Hence, pursuing a
Masters degree in Information Systems from your university would help me reach greater
heights in today’s competitive world and therefore I greatly appreciate your consideration of
my application.
