year!

This wonderful train was designed by Russian designer Valentina Voskovnyuk , free
pattern, to everyone’s delight.

I tried as faithfully as possible to translate from Russian to English.

The abbreviations can be found here .

Materials:

Yarn of the desired type and any color of your choice.

Number of crochet according to the yarn.
Fiberfill
Thick cardboard
Wire for coupling trains and carriages, as well as for candy
Toothpicks 6 pieces
Decorations: white furry yarn, 8mm pearl, half beads and decorative snowflakes,
rhinestones, beads, buttons, etc. according to your taste and imagination.

Work in spiral! Use a stitch marker to mark your rounds.

Stage 1 – Engine

Foundation: (make 2)

Optional color yarn (in the example is used brown)

Each row begins with 1ch.

1: 26ch, from the second ch from hook make 25sc, turn

2-10: 25sc, turn (9 rds)

Cut the base from thick cardboard to the size of the part.

11. 1ch and crochet sc only on 3 sides, and on the corners make (1sc,1ch,1sc).

Make the second detail.

Join the two details with the cardboard between them and with a different color yarn (blue
in the example) make a slst all around.

Count 11 points and work slip stitches transversely to form a square (see photo).

Driver’s cab:

Optional color yarn (in the exemple is used blue)

While crocheting, straighten the walls of the cabin, giving it the shape of a square.

1: Attach the thread where you worked slip stitches and crochet 11sc for each side of the
square = 44sc, 1slst

2dc, 2hdc, 1sc, then along the other two side walls make: 11 sc each , 1slst = 46.

Between the 17th and 18th row, crochet 1 row with slst in the desired color (pink in the
example).

Cut four rectangles from thick cardboard to the dimensions of the walls of the cabin, insert
the cardboard inside, stuff the cabin!

The front part of the locomotive:

Optional color (blue in the example)

2: 6inc=12

Start to stuff!

Place the front part of the locomotive on the base. Sew in a circle around the cabin. On
the bottom of the front part, apply glue along the entire length and glue to the base.

Roof:

Start at the corner of the side and back walls: 46sc

1: BLO 1ch, 11sc, turn

2-13: 1ch, 11sc, turn

Cut the thread, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew the roof on three sides of the cab by
grabbing only the back loops of the last row. Stuff! The roof should be semi-circular.

Roof decoration:

With white yarn, start in the left corner of the back side:

(in front of the cabin), 2sc in the corner, (1ch, 1slst) on the right side , 2sc in the corner,
only single crochet (in back of the cabin).

The front and back of the roof will have an even edge, and the sidewalls will have a
“small tooth” edge.

Between the roof and the first row make slst with another color yarn (blue in example).

Between the 1st and 2nd row make slst with white furry yarn. Cut and hide the threads!

Chimney

Detail *1.

Optional color (blue in the example)

1: Dial a chain of 16 ch, close them in a ring, and then crochet 16sc. First you crochet the
chain, leave a long tail for sewing the chimney.

Between the 6th and 7th row, crochet 1 row with slst in the desired color (pink in the

Sew part * 2 from above to part * 1, gripping the back half loops. On the remaining front
half-loops, along the edge of the chimney, make slst with white furry yarn. Cut and hide
the threads! Also notice that it is pressed part # 2 into the pipe a bit. Focus on the photo!

Wheels: make 4 white and 4 with 2 colors (photo)

For a locomotive/car/platform, work in the same way!

Rear part (white color in the example):

1: 6sc in MR

Fasten the thread and cut off.

FO. Cut the thread.

Sew the 2 parts (rear part and front part) capturing only the back half-loops of both parts.

Fix the wheels:

Insert toothpicks between the parts of the locomotive base. Try on the wheels, if
everything is even and symmetrical, apply glue to the side, then to the toothpick. Stick on
the wheel. Trim the protruding ends of the toothpick and glue a half-bead in the center of
the wheel. This will prevent coming out the toothpicks. Attach the rest of the wheels in the
same way.

The wheels can be simply glued or sewn on without toothpicks, but they will wrap and the
locomotive will stand crooked. Toothpicks are here for stiffening.

Tow bar:

Cut off a piece of wire, mine is 5cm. Insert the wire at the back of the locomotive, between
the base parts, in the center. Apply glue in the place where the wire exits, glue the thread
and wrap the wire around it. Bend the wire up, the bent end is about 1 cm, cut off the
excess. Glue the end of the thread and cut it too.

Decorate the train! You can glue snowflakes and half-beads on the sides of the cabin.

Stage 2 – Wagon and platform

Carriage base:(make 2)

Optional color (brown in the example). Each row begins with 1ch.

Cut the cardboard base to the size of the part.

Crocheting sc on three sides and in the corners make: 1sc, 1ch, 1sc. The number of sc
must be the same on both parts!

Crochet another one.

Connect the two parts : Fold the wrong side inside, the cardboard base between them,
sew together, with optional color (pink color yarn in the example).

Wagon – walls:

Crochet in the spiral.

Attach the thread to the base (pink color yarn):

1: BLO 56sc

2-6: 56sc (5 rds)

Change the color with brown.

7-10: 56sc (4 rds)

11: make slst with white furry yarn. Cut and hide the threads!

Between the 6th and 7th row, crochet 1 row with slst in the desired color (pink in the
example).

To keep the car in shape, starch the walls!

To do this, dilute PVA glue with warm water, in a 1: 1 ratio. Apply with a brush to the
inside of the carriage. Straighten the walls, giving the carriage a rectangular shape. Apply
two coats, letting each dry well. Don’t apply on the furry yarn!

Crochet four wheels, just like for a steam locomotive. In the example are used white and
pink yarn colors. Attach the wheels to the wagon. On one side of the car, make a hitch,
just like for a steam locomotive. Dial 15ch and attached them to the bottom of the car in
the form of a loop (photo). Decorate as desired.

Platform car – base:(make 2 parts)

With brown color. Each row begins with 1ch.

1: 21ch and from the second ch from hook: 20sc, turn

2-10: 1ch, 20sc, turn (9 rds)

Cut the cardboard base to the size of the part.

Crocheting sc on three sides and in the corners make: 1sc, 1ch, 1sc. The number of sc
must be the same on both parts!

Crochet another one.

Connect the two parts : Fold the wrong side inside, the cardboard base between them,
sew together, with optional color (pink color yarn in the example).

Platform – walls:

Crochet in the spiral.

Attach the thread to the base (pink color yarn):

1: BLO 62sc

2-3: 62sc (2 rds)

4: make slst with white furry yarn. Cut and hide the threads!

Starch the walls to keep their shape, just like the carriage.

Crochet four wheels. In the example are used white and light purple yarn colors. Attach
the wheels to the platform. On one side of the platform, make a hitch. Dial 15ch and
attached them to the bottom in the form of a loop (photo). Decorate as desired.

Christmas tree

Start with brown color yarn:

1: 6sc in MR

2: 6inc=12

3: BLO 12sc

4-6: 12sc

Change color to green.

7: 12inc=24

Next, make the increases in any way convenient for you.

Close the hole! Fasten off. Cut the thread.

Crochet in the remaining front loops (FLO) in the rows: 15, 19, 23, 27, 31, 35 and 39:
(1slst + 3ch + 2dc) – in the same stitch, skip 2 stitches, repeat to the end of the row, finish
with slst in the first loop of the row.

Lay the Christmas tree on the platform and tie it crosswise with a string, securing it at the
corners.

Lollipop cane: (white and red colors yarn)

Due to the fact that the pattern is placed on 12 loops, and we crochet on 11, the stripes
are displaced and twisted in a spiral. Change the colors as wheels.

Dial 11ch close in a ring with 1slst and crochet 3sc white, 3sc red, 3sc white, 3sc red.
Make 22 rows. At the end crochet 5 decreases with white yarn.

Cut a piece of wire to the length of the candy, insert it and stuff a little. Sew the hole .
Bend the tip.

Crochet the desired number of candies using any colors you like.

Lollipop spiral: (make 2 parts)

Start with green.

Make an amigurumi ring and crochet into it: 1sc, 1hdc, 2dc.

Take a white thread and crochet in the same ring: 1sc, 1hdc, 2dc. Tighten the ring.

Continue work with white thread, in back of the loops green, 2dc in each loop. Having
crocheted all the loops, put off the white thread and crochet in green along the white
loops, also 2dc in each loop. Thus, alternate crocheting with one or another color, until
get a spiral of the desired diameter. In the example are : green 8 times of 2dc in each
loop, white 22 times 2dc in each loop.

Having crocheted the required number of stitches in green, finish the row like this: 2hdc,
2sc, 2slst.

Do not cut the thread yet!

Having crocheted the required number of stitches in white, finish the row like this: 2hdc,
2sc, pick up the left green thread on the hook and crochet 1slst. Tighten the green loop
well and crochet another 1slst.

Fasten and cut both threads.

Crochet the second part. Cut out two cardboard circles to size.

Wrap the white thread on a stick of about 5 cm and fix it with glue.

Crochet one part in dark green with sc in the back loop only. Cut the thread, leaving a tail
for sewing. Sew the parts together, grabbing the front loop for the first part, and the back
loop for the second part. Place the cardboard bases inside, adding a little filler between
them.

After sewing 4-5 loops, glue the stick. Cover the end with glue and insert between the
cardboards at the beginning of stitching.

Press well, sew the parts to the end. Crochet the desired number of candies using any
colors you like!
