1. Overview
This manual describes precautions for the use of Plant Resource Manager
(hereinafter, PRM) to operate STARDOM.
The precautions are as follows:
1. Precautions for System Configuration
2. Precautions for Installation
For other than the above, refer to the following:

• STARDOM IT Security (IM 34P02Q93-01E)

This manual is a guide for implementing security in the STARDOM system
from the viewpoint of Information Technology (IT).
• Plant Resource Manager Installation (IM 33Y05Q12-11E)
This manual describes the procedure for installing the PRM package on a PC
and its settings.
• Plant Resource Manager Reference (IM 33Y05Q10-11E)

2. Precautions for System Configuration

Following must be considered when connecting STARDOM to PRM.

 Device Tag name

Device Tag name on Fieldbus device must be unique names within the range managed
by PRM Server.
Generally, PRM Server and PRM Field Communication Server are installed separately
for each control network. Unique device tag must be set on all of the connected
Fieldbus device.
Each block tag name must be unique within the FCN/FCJ system.

TIP
• The FOUNDATION fieldbus described in this manual is a "FOUNDATION fieldbus H1," as
standardized by the Fieldbus Foundation.
The term "FOUNDATION fieldbus" is used to denote the "FOUNDATION fieldbus H1."
• The term "Fieldbus device" used in this manual to refer to a field device connected to a
FOUNDATION fieldbus.

 Messages
The format of alerts generated from Fieldbus device differs in VDS and PRM. In VDS,
only important information is shown due to message length limitations. However, in
PRM, all information in alert messages is shown.
Likewise, alerts generated from a given piece of Fieldbus device appear differently in
PRM depending on whether the Fieldbus device is connected to STARDOM or to
CENTUM.

 Time synchronization
In the CENTUM VP/CS 3000 system, the Field Communication Server time can be
synchronized with the Vnet time. To enable time synchronization in STARDOM, set the
PC so that clocks are synchronized by SNTP.

SEE ALSO
For details, see the "net time" command Help topic in Windows. Also see the STARDOM Network
Configuration Guide (TI 34P02K25-01E).

 Maximum number of connected units

The maximum number of connected FCN/FCJ units supported by Field Communication
Server is 100 in both cases.
In large-scale systems, use the multi-server function to divide the connected controllers
being managed by PRM Server into groups of 100 or fewer units.
