Required Examinations Music History and Literature and Music Theory Placement Examinations Taken at the time of initial enrollment. Depending on results, MUHL 5300, and/or MUTH 5301 may be required as leveling courses. Those courses may not be applied toward the Music History or Music Theory requirements. Summer only MMED students may count any summer MUHL or summer MUTH course toward degree requirements.
Final Thesis Defense Taken in the final term of enrollment. The Oral Thesis Defense for MMED-Thesis Track will demonstrate the music education student’s ability to articulate background, procedures and results of his/her thesis, and synthesize results to his/her own teaching setting.
