CROCHET SKULL CARDIGAN WITH POCKET
Materials:
6.5mm/ US K Hook
Scissors
Stitch markers
Abbreviations:
R1 – Row 1
CH – Chain
DC – Double Crochet
This sweater pattern is written as one size fits most. To alter the size,
decrease or increase your original back panel CH count to the desired
width making sure it does not go under 33STs (below that and the
graphic will have missing pieces).

BACK PANEL
Back panel is worked from the bottom up starting with the ribbing, then moving on to the body where
the graphic is located. [CH 2 in every row does not count as a stitch]
R1: in 3rd CH from hook DC, then DC along every chain to end (63 DC) CH 2, turn
R2: FPDC in first ST, BPDC in next ST, alternate FPDC & BPDC to the end of row (63 STs) CH 2, turn
R3: BPDC in first ST, FPDC in the next ST, alternate BPDC & FPDC to the end of row (63 STs) CH 2, turn
R4: repeat R2
R5: repeat R3 – you should have a stretchy ribbed band that is about 2.5 inches thick and 20 inches long
Note: Now is when we start on the rows that have the color changes. Count your stitches carefully and
make sure to carry your yarn under your stiches starting from the first white stitch of the row until the
last white stitch of the row. This method leaves you with ONLY 2 ENDS to sew in after the skull is
complete!! Pretty amazing right?!
To make it as easy as possible, R16 - R61 are written a little differently. For example: R16: B27, W9, B27
– means HDC 27 STs in black yarn, switch to white yarn HDC 9, then switch to black yarn HDC 27.

ASSEMBLY
Flip your sweater inside out and lay flat, making sure all the sides are lined up
SIDE SEAMS & SLEEVES: Line-up the sleeve next to cardigan and attach a stitch marker to indicate where
the bottom of the sleeve ends. With a long piece of yarn whip-stitch up the sides of the back and front
panel until you reach your stitch marker. Continue to whip-stitch around the sleeve, attaching it to the
cardigan. [Note: make sure you don’t sew too tight. Sewing too tight will create cinching] REPEAT WITH
SECOND SLEEVE
POCKETS: Sew the pocket/s onto the front panel/s. The corner of the pocket will line up inside of the
bottom and neckline ribbing
