Southwest monsoon.

hazards to daily lives.)

Attitude: Practice proactive ways of preparing for the upcoming
monsoon.
Values: Display cooperation during the group activity.
Topic: MONSOONS: AMIHAN AND HABAGAT Duration 1 hr.
Resources Needed Science LM pages 328-331, map (figure 17 and 18 about pressure and winds in January
and July, cartolina, pentel pen, tape, video about monsoon and power point presentation.
PROCEDURE:

Recap: Show a map of air pressure and wind direction near the Philippine area in January and July.
Ask the following questions:
1. In what direction do winds blow? From high pressure area to low pressure area or low pressure area to high

3. From what direction does the wind blow near the Philippines in July?
Give prize/incentives to students who will participate in the class discussion.
Activity Let’s have a game! Picture Analysis.
Show pictures to students. A moving air or wind, plantings crops, floods and landslide in mountain areas.
Let them identify the correct word that would describe the picture.
Evaluate the students’ performance through the given criteria in the activity. Add additional information in each group
if needed.
Give a short quiz. True or False
1. Monsoon is a wind system.
Assessment 2. Hanging Amihan also known as Southwest monsoon.
3. Hanging Habagat is a Northeast monsoon.
4. The direction of the wind is from high pressure area to low pressure area.
5. The moving air is called wind.
What is ITCZ all about? Refer to your Science LM page 332. Write your answer in your science lecture.
