GENERALLY

A All Prime Cost and Provisional Sums are to be expended at the discretion
and under the direction of the Architect and may be deducted wholly or in
part if not required. The Contractor shall have no claim on these sums.

B The Employer reserves the right to omit any work including any
attendance and profits priced therein (ie. forming part of Prime Cost or
Provisional Sums) from the Contract and let out such omitted works as
direct contracts.

C The words "designated sub-contractor", "nominated sub-contractor",


"designated suppliers" or "nominated suppliers" where used in this Bill
means specialist firms selected or to be selected by the Architect and as
defined in the Conditions of Contract.

Designated and Nominated Sub-Contractors and Suppliers

D The Contractor will be responsible for all work carried out by Designated
and Nominated Sub-Contractors or materials supplied by Designated and
Nominated Suppliers whether subject to prime cost allowance or
otherwise.

E Without prejudice to his responsibility under the Contract, the Contractor


shall enter into written contracts with all designated and nominated sub-
contractors and suppliers, lodging a copy of such sub-contracts with the
Architect. Approval of the form of contract shall be given by the Architect.

F An amount of not less than 10% of the value of each sub-contract must
be held by the Contractor in the form of a banker's / insurance's
guarantee or performance bond against defects in respect of each
designated and nominated sub-contractor or supplier for which the
Contractor will he held responsible under the terms of the Contract.

Attendance on Designated and Nominated Sub-Contractors

A The Contract shall be deemed to include the cost of the provision by the
Contractor of attendance upon every designated and nominated sub-
contractor. The term "attendance" shall mean such attendance and
facilities as listed herein, all of which will be provided by the Contractor
unless otherwise stated :

1) Programming, co-ordinating and organising all sub-contractors' work to


ensure the correct timing, sequencing and completion of all operations
including preparing co-ordinated working drawings of all services.

2) Allowing designated and nominated sub-contractors full access to the


site during normal working hours or otherwise by arrangement.

3) Allowing designated and nominated sub-contractors full access to the


site during normal working hours or otherwise by arrangement.

4) Allowing designated and nominated sub-contractors the use of the


toilet, washing, canteen and other facilities.

5) Allowing designated and nominated sub-contractors free and full use


of standing scaffolding, standing hoisting facilities and tower cranes.

6) Provision of working space.

7) Provision of space for storage of materials and plant subject to the


Conditions of Sub-Contract. The sub-contractor, however, shall construct
and recover his own stores on completion of his works.

8) Provision of all setting-out and survey information including giving all


necessary dimensions and taking responsibility for their accuracy.

9) Provision of artificial lighting and water for the works including payment
of all fees and charges in connection therewith.

10) Removal of rubbish from all locations including final removal from the
site.

11) The cutting and formation of holes/openings, recesses, etc. for ropes,
ductwork, pipes, conduits and fittings through walls, floors, ceilings, roofs,
etc. and making good after the electrical and mechanical works is
sufficiently advanced. Cutting of holes through false ceilings and special
partitions shall be by the respective specialist sub-contractors. The sub-
contractor shall be responsible for chasing of walls for pipes, conduits
and fittings but making good shall be by the Contractor.

12) The formation of concrete bases, plinths, inertia blocks, etc. for plant
and equipment, door louvre, exhaust discharge (external) grilles and
fresh air intake louvre, unless otherwise stated in the Specification or
Drawings. Steel framework for concrete inertia blocks shall be provided
by the respective sub-contractor.

13) The building of manholes, pits, trenches, floor wastes for cables,
pipes, ducts, etc., unless otherwise stated in the Specification or
Drawings.

14) Full responsibility for loss or damage to the subcontract works which
have been fully, finally and properly incorporated into the works.

15) Additional costs incurred due to sub-contractors working different


hours from those worked by the Contractor.

16) Protection and casing up of the sub-contract works properly


completed and incorporated into the works.

17) Provision of temporary electricity supplies including power for test-run


and commissioning of all mechanical and electrical equipment and
associated installations. The sub-contractor shall be responsible for all
necessary wiring, connections, etc. to the actual points of execution of the
sub-contract works.

Responsibilities of Designated and Nominated Sub-Contractors

A Where applicable, designated and nominated sub-contractors shall be


deemed to include for costs in connection with the following:

1) Unloading getting in, storing and all handling and hoisting of his
materials, plant and tools into required positions.

2) The provision, erection, maintenance and removal of all his temporary


office and storage accommodation.

3) Connections to temporary power supplies made available by the


Contractor. Supplying and running distribution cables, leads and electrical
equipment required.

4) The provision, erection and removal of special scaffolding including


altering and adapting from time to time as necessary.

5) Full responsibility for loss or damage to his plant, tools, equipment and
other property on the site.

6) Protection and casing up of the work during execution.

Profit and Attendance

B The amounts inserted by the Contractor against the time "Add for Profit"
& "Add for Attendance" shall be on a percentage basis. This percentage
will be used to adjust the profit in the final account.

C The Contractor's attention is drawn to the fact that should he be elected


and be approved by the Architect to tender for any of the items listed
hereafter, his quotation will be deemed to include all profit and
attendance. Should his tender be accepted and awarded, the particular
sum together with the profit and attendance as indicated hereafter shall
be wholly omitted and the accepted tender amount shall be taken as the
new sum.

D The Contractor shall not be entitled to any profit and attendance for works
executed by the Authorities for which Provisional Sums are provided.
