INTRODUCTION
The government under the leadership of
PM Narendra Modi has started and
promoted Startup India. Startup India
initiative intends to build a strong
ecosystem that is conducive for the
growth of startups.
It aims to empower startups to
achieve growth through innovation
and technology.
To promote growth and help the Indian
economy, many benefits are being given
to entrepreneurs establishing startups.
The startups recognized through the
Startup India initiative are provided ample
benefits for starting their own business in
India.
MINISTRY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT
AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
The task of promoting entrepreneurship was earlier
given to different departments and government
agencies.
In 2014, the Prime Minister decided to dedicate an
entire ministry to building this sector as he felt that
skill development required greater push from the
government's side.
It aims to remove the disconnect between demand
and supply of skilled manpower, to build the new
skills and innovative thinking not only for existing jobs
but also for jobs that are to be created.

the global level.

Currently, entrepreneurship is
gaining momentum. Through the
establishment of innovative business
or startups, the economy of the
country will flourish.
Startup India Seed Fund

On 16 January 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the


launch of the 'Startup India Seed Fund' — worth INR 1,000 crores — to
help startups and support ideas from aspiring entrepreneurs.
The reserved fund for the Startup India Seed Fund initiative, as per the
Union Budget of 2022 is Rs 283.5 crore, which is higher than the
revised estimate of around Rs 100 crore for the year 2021-22.

Benefits of the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme


The Government of India made an official announcement about the
approval of the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme. It has been
approved for four years and was implemented with effect from April 1,
2021.
The Seed Fund will be disbursed to eligible startups through
eligible incubators across India.
Once incubated, the startups will be provided physical
infrastructure, support for testing, mentoring for prototype or
commercialization, human resources, and legal compliances, all by
the incubators
Startup India Initiative

The Prime Minister of India launched the Startup India Initiative in the year 2016 on 16th January. The idea is to increase
wealth and employability by giving wings to entrepreneurial spirits. The government gives tax benefits to startups
under this scheme and around 50,000 startups have been recognized via this scheme in a period of a little more than
five years. The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion is maintaining this initiative and is treating it as a long-
term project.

CREDIT GUARANTEE
SCHEME FOR STARTUPS
Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups functions under the trusteeship
management of the National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company.

The two significant difficulties faced by start-ups are the lack of adequate
funding and the high-risk perception of the banks towards them.

This scheme is launched with a contribution of Rs.2000 crore, to enable the


startups to obtain collateral-free loans to start their business.

A guarantee cover is provided under this scheme for an agreed period upon
the credit facility.

A credit guarantee of maximum Rs.5 crore is offered to every eligible


beneficiary, which includes assistance such as working capital, debentures,
term loan, venture capital, etc.
ORIENT MAHILA VIKAS
YOJANA SCHEME

STAND-UP INDIA
The loan granted under this scheme can range from Rs. 10 lakhs to
Rs. 1 crore. Every bank must provide this loan to a minimum of one
Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe or woman entrepreneur.
According to this loan, the fund is expected to cover about 75% of ELIGIBILITY
the cost of the total project.

Dena Bank is a public sector banking company started with the vision of
promoting economic opportunities for women and to set a path towards the
economic empowerment of women. The bank creates a platform for women
entrepreneurs to get business loans. These business loans are intended for
most business purposes to meet the requirement of working capital or for
business expansion.

These business loans are intended for most business purposes to meet the requirement of working capital or for business
expansion.

Stree Shakti Scheme


The scheme grants for special business loans up to Rs 5 lakhs to entities where more than 50% of ownership is held by
women. Businesses operated by women entrepreneurs are eligible to receive a loan under Stree Shakti Package. For the
purpose of identifying “Women Entrepreneurs” businesses, the definition recommended by the MSME Department of
India will be applicable.

CONCLUSION
The Indian Startup funding ecosystem has been developing in leaps
and bounds. With a large number of startup initiatives being taken up
by the Government and private sectors, it is important for startups to
leverage these funds and grow their businesses in order to compete
globally.
These schemes are no doubt a great way to get money for your
project. These applications can be daunting and often have a lot of
hoops to jump through; however, by preparing ahead of time, you are
ensuring that you have time to gather the documentation necessary.
