Shape front neck edge and armhole: From this point, sts will
dec at neck edge (beg of RS rows) and inc at armhole edge
(end of RS rows), but at different rates; armhole shaping will
be complete, and shoulder shaping will begin, before neck
shaping is complete. Dec 1 st at neck edge every RS row 0 (8,
9, 17, 19, 25) times, then every 3rd row 18 (15, 15, 10, 10, 6)
times, and AT THE SAME TIME, inc 1 st at armhole edge
every 3rd row 12 (14, 15, 10, 18, 9) times, then every other
row 0 (0, 0, 7, 0, 11) times. When piece measures 7 (7, 7½, 7½,
8, 8)” from beg of armhole shaping, shape shoulder: at beg of
WS rows, BO 2 (3, 3, 3, 3, 4) sts 15 (1, 7, 10, 15, 3) times, then
0 (2, 2, 2, 0, 3) sts 0 (15, 8, 6, 0, 13) times. No sts rem when all
shaping is complete.

LEFT FRONT
Work as for Right Front, reversing shaping.

POCKETS (make 2 alike)


CO 14 sts. Work in 2x2 Rib for 6 (6¼, 6¾, 6¾, 7¼, 7¼)”. BO
on RS; do not cut yarn. Turn work. Pick up and k 30 (33, 35,
35, 38, 38) along edge of ribbing. Beg with a WS row, work in
Rev St st for 6 (6, 6½, 6½, 7, 7)”. BO.

FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams, starting from neck edge; reverse seam for last ½ (½, ¾, ¾, 1, 1)” and turn up; tack down. Sew side seams,
keeping seam allowance to the outside. Sew pockets to fronts, aligning bottom edge of pocket with CO edge and centering top
edge of pocket on angled seam.
Bottom border: With RS facing and long circular ndl, beg at Left Front edge, pick up and k approx 178 (198, 218, 238, 258,
278) sts along bottom edge. Work in 2x2 Rib, beg with a WSR, for 3”. BO in rib.
Front border: With RS facing, beg at lower edge of Right Front, pick up and k approx. 78 (78, 82, 82, 84, 84) sts to beg of front
neck shaping, pm, 60 sts along neck edge, pm, 50 (58, 62, 66, 74, 74) sts along back neck, pm, 60 sts along neck edge, pm, and
78 (78, 82, 82, 84, 84) sts along Left Front; approx. 326 (334, 346, 350, 362, 362) sts, but any multiple of 4 plus 2 will be fine.
Beg with a WS row, work in 2x2 Rib for 1¼”, ending with a WS row. Next row, make buttonholes: Rib 5, (rib 2 tog, yo twice,
rib 2tog) for buttonhole; *rib 13 (13, 14, 14, 14, 14), make buttonhole; rep from * 3 times more; work in rib as est to end of row.
Next row: Work in rib as est, working (p1, p1tbl) in each double yo. Cont until border meas 2½”, ending with a RS row. BO
knitwise.
Sew on buttons. Weave in ends. Block lightly.
