6. Installation
6.1. Installation of Arkel ArLine-M
Arkel ArLine-M main unit:
• If the machine room is available, it must be installed in a suitable place within the machine room (Preferably within the
lift control panel or near the panel).
• In hydraulic lifts, it should preferably be installed at the top of the lift shaft (Since the GSM signal level may not be
sufficient in the machine room).
• In the operations without machine room, (Preferably in the lift control panel or near the lift panel), it must be installed
at the top of the shaft.
• Do not install on the car.
The main unit must be installed in an easily accessible place when needed. The button on the unit must be easily accessible and
the LEDs should be visible. Appropriate space should be left for the intervention in the SIM card, antenna and all connectors.
The main unit and the antenna must be installed in the place with the best possible reception. The unit and the antenna can be
placed in a temporary location until the first operation stage. Once the necessary connections and settings have been made and
the GSM communication of the alarm system has been activated, the best location for the antenna can be selected using the GSM
light on the main unit. Whenever you change the position of the antenna, wait for 10 seconds for the GSM signal level to be
detected again. The fact that the GSM light is on means that the alarm system receives enough reception to operate.
A standard mobile phone can also help with the determination of the installation place. For this purpose, the operator of the
mobile phone and the SIM card to be used on the Arkel ArLine-M device must be identical. Place the mobile phone in the area
where you intend to install the product. Make a call and speak. If there is a distortion or interruption in the conversation, select
another location and repeat the same steps.
The following points should be taken into consideration when selecting the installation place:
• The cable length of the antenna is limited to 3m.
• The antenna must be fixed in an upright position on a metal plate that is in horizontal position.
• The antenna must be placed at least 1 meter away from electronic devices to prevent GSM interference.
• Metal cabinets/doors/covers weaken the GSM signal. The antenna must not be placed in a closed metal cabinet.
• For the antenna, parts/walls of the building close to the outside should be preferred.
• If the position of the antenna is changed, the GSM signal level must be checked again.
The location and dimensions of the mounting holes of this unit are shown in the “Dimensions” section of this manual. Install the
unit on a stable surface using suitable screws.
6.2. Installation of Arkel ArLine-S-COP
The Arkel ArLine-S-COP unit is designed to be installed at the rear side of the operating panel inside the car.
For the installation of the products, necessary assembly preparations must have been made in the operating panel.
Arkel ArLine User Manual V1.23
In the “Dimensions” section of this manual, the dimensions and templates required for the installation of this unit are given.
The mechanical installation of the external speaker and microphone will have an impact on the sound quality. The number of the
holes in front of the loudspeaker must be sufficient for the sound to pass. The microphone hole in the operating panel must be
aligned with the hole in front of the microphone to achieve maximum sound quality.
Alarm button, yellow and green pictograms (LEDs) are not included in the product, they are connected externally to the unit.
The operating panel supplier must have made the necessary preparation for the alarm button and pictograms.
Microphone, speaker and related connections are not included. The operating panel supplier must supply these parts. The
properties of these parts are as follows.
The speaker connection is non-directional. The microphone connection is directional. See Figure 15 for the microphone and
speaker connections.
6.3. Installation of Arkel ArLine-S-TP
The Arkel ArLine-S-TP unit is designed to be placed in the well. On the unit, the alarm button, intercom button and yellow-
green pictograms and LEDs are internally present.
It can be installed on top of the car and under the car/in the pit (*) at a suitable location so that the alarm button can be pressed
from any refuge space within 30 cm horizontal distance.
*The speech unit can be installed under the car instead of the pit, provided that the requirements of the EN 81-20 standard are
met. The only way for personnel to be trapped in the pit is that the car closes the exit way of the personnel. In this method, there
will be no need to use additional wires in the pit for the speech unit.
Install the unit on an open and stable surface using suitable screws. If the front or sides of the unit are closed, this may cause
echo problems between the speaker and the microphone.
The location and dimensions of the mounting holes of this unit are shown in the “Dimensions” section of this manual.
6.4. Installation of Arkel ArLine-S-INT
The Arkel ArLine-S-TP unit is designed to be placed in the machine room or on the lift control panel. There is an intercom button
on the unit.
It should be located in the area where the emergency rescue operation is to be carried out (In the machine room or on the lift
control panel).
Install the unit on an open and stable surface, as appropriate. If the front or sides of the unit are closed, this may cause echo
problems between the speaker and the microphone.
The location and dimensions of the mounting holes of this unit are shown in the “Dimensions” section of this manual.

16. Intercom
As per EN 81-20 standard;
• No direct voice communication between in the car and emergency rescue place is not possible (Eg. in hydraulic lifts)
• Or where the movement distance of the lift exceeds 30 m,
• A two-way communication system (Intercom) should be installed between the inside the car and the emergency rescue
area (Machine room/control panel).
An Arkel ArLine-S-INT unit added to the Arkel ArLine system can be used to provide the intercom specification described in
EN 81-20. In addition, in the Arkel ArLine system, two-way communication can be made between all speech units.
The ID of the Arkel ArLine-S-INT unit to be used for intercom in the machine room must be set to "04" with the dip-switch (See
section Arkel ArLine-S-TP / Arkel ArLine-S-INT Dip-switch Settings).
The Arkel ArLine-S-TP and Arkel ArLine-S-INT units are equipped with an intercom button, which is indicated by a white
ICOM.
The priority between alarm and intercom work is as follows:
• Intercom communication cannot be performed while the alarm service is active with the rescue service.
• If an alarm is triggered during intercom communication, the intercom is deactivated. Intercom communication is
restored when the alarm communication is switched off.
• Intercom calls can be made when there is an alarm condition that has not yet been terminated, but only when there is
no alarm voice communication with the rescue service.
Intercom operation can occur in two different ways when there is no alarm communication priority:
1) Between outdoor units and car unit:
• When the intercom button on the Arkel ArLine-S-INT or any Arkel ArLine-S-TP unit is held down for less than 3
seconds while no intercom communication is available, communication is initiated between that unit and the in-car
Arkel ArLine-S-COP unit.
• The Arkel ArLine-S-INT / TP units use the push-to-talk and listen method. The Arkel ArLine-S-COP talk is active
unless the Arkel ArLine-S-INT / TP unit is used to talk.
• Communication time is 3 minutes. Each time it is pressed, the intercom button will be set back to 3 minutes. If the
button is pressed 2 times within 1 second, the communication is ended.
2) Between outdoor units:
• When there is no intercom communication, pressing and holding the intercom button on the Arkel ArLine-S-INT or
any Arkel ArLine-S-TP unit for longer than 3 seconds will sound an audible signal on other Arkel ArLine-S-INT / TP
units. Communication is initiated with the intercom button on the unit. Other units cannot initiate communication until
this communication is terminated.
• Communication time is 3 minutes. This time will be set back to 3 minutes each time you press the intercom button
during the call. If the button is pressed twice within 1 second, communication is terminated.
18. Battery
18.1. Battery Test
According to the EN 81-28 standard, the remote alarm system operated by GSM mobile communication should continue to
operate at least 60 minutes (Including 15 minutes of talk) from the emergency electrical power supply in case of power failure.
The status of this emergency electrical power supply and the correct charging of the batteries must be monitored continuously.
The fault status should be reported to the rescue service/personnel automatically and indicated by appropriate means in the lift
installation.
18.2. Battery Test
The Arkel ArLine-M includes one 12V / 1.2Ah maintenance-free dry battery. The charging and automatic testing of the batteries
are performed by the Arkel ArLine-M.
In the Arkel ArLine system, the battery's capacity is tested at regular intervals (1 week). The test can take up to 30 minutes.
During the test, the battery alarm is activated when it is determined that the battery capacity, including 15 minutes of talk, is not
sufficient to allow the alarm system to run for 60 minutes.
It may take up to 12 hours to fully charge an empty battery. The first battery test is performed after 24 hours of operation. The
battery test is not performed during power failure. If a power failure occurs during the battery test, the test is terminated
immediately. The battery alarm is activated without delay if the battery is not plugged in, is connected incorrectly or has a short
circuit.
The following operations are performed during the battery alarm:
• The battery failure is automatically reported to the rescue service/personnel (ARKEL Cloud shows the battery failure,
the battery alarm is sent as a SMS message to the number which is assigned for technical alarms).
• The BAT LED on the Arkel ArLine-M is set to turning on or flashing according to the alarm status.
• The Arkel ArLine-M programmable relay function 'BATF - Battery alarm' is active.
After a successful automatic battery capacity test, the battery alarm is reset and the above-mentioned fault conditions return to
normal.
It is automatically notified to the rescue service/personnel that the battery failure is terminated (ARKEL Cloud is shown to end
battery failure, and it is sent as SMS to the phone number entered for the technical alarm). However, if the battery capacity
problem is not resolved, the same fault condition will repeat in the next automatic battery capacity test.
15 minutes after the power cut, the rescue service/personnel is informed of the power cut. When the battery voltage falls below
a certain level, the battery is disconnected and the Arkel ArLine-M shuts down to prevent deep discharge damage of the battery
in the event of a power failure. Before the switch-off, if there is no active alarm call, the rescue service/personnel is informed
that the device will be switched off. The device will restart automatically when the power is restored.
18.3. Replacing the Battery
The replacement phases of the battery in the Arkel ArLine-M unit are as follows:
• Disconnect the Arkel ArLine-M unit support. Then press and hold the button for 5 seconds to cut off the internal battery
supply and turn off the unit completely.
• Remove the top cover of the unit by removing the 4 screws.
• Remove the battery connector on the Arkel ArLine-M pcb.
• Disconnect the Arkel ArLine-M pcb from the box by removing 4 plastic distensions. The battery will appear under the
pcb.
• Remove the black-red cable connected to the battery.
• The battery is fixed to the top box with a metal plate. Release the battery by unscrewing the plate. Carefully remove the
faulty battery.
• Place the new battery in the same position. Install the fixing plate screws.
• Install the battery cables with paying attention to +/-.
• Secure the Arkel ArLine-M pcb back into the box with the aid of plastic distances.
• Replace the Arkel ArLine-M top cover and replace the screws.
• Connect the supply to the Arkel ArLine-M unit.
‼ Warning: Only 12V / 1.2Ah dry type maintenance-free battery of the same size as the original battery should be used.
‼ Warning: The battery must be replaced every 3 years to guarantee the operating time from the battery.

‼ Warning:
Make sure that the faulty battery is disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
‼ Warning: The temperature during use has a significant effect on the service life and capacity of the battery. Ambient
temperatures between 10-25°C and operating temperatures from 20 to 40°C are ideal. Do not store or operate the Arkel
ArLine-M in temperatures above 40°C!
‼ Warning: There is an effect of GSM signal level on the battery operating time. Set the GSM signal level to the highest
possible level.
After the input assignment is made, in which case the function is active is selected:
• If NO is selected, the function will be active when the signal is applied to the input.
• If NC is selected, the function will be active if the signal is interrupted.
For example, if the REV (Maintenance / revision) function is selected and the input type is set to NC, it will be informed that the
lift is in revision when there is no signal at the relevant input.
If no input is to be used, the "NONE - Undefined" function must be assigned to the input.
