EEL 3112 | Circuit Analysis II | Homework problems and solutions

First solve all the practice problems in those chapters covered in class. Next,
if you have the time, then solve all the problems in the back of the chapters.
If you don’t have sufficient time, you should at least solve all the problems in
this document. Note that the problem numbers in this document may not
match those in the textbook.

Since the algebra could be intense, algebraic mistakes could be made

inadvertently. If you think there are errors in the solutions, come show it to
me and the errors will be corrected.

Chapter 11, Problem 42.

A 110-V rms, 60-Hz source is applied to a load impedance Z. The apparent power
entering the load is 120 VA at a power factor of 0.707 lagging.
(a) Calculate the complex power.
(b) Find the rms current supplied to the load.
(c) Determine Z.
(d) Assuming that Z = R + j  L, find the values of R and L.
