SHOW as its highlight event. It is annually celebrated on the first week of March.
Lubuagan is famous for the Mabilong Weaver’s Village where back strap weaving is
the method, as opposed to loom weaving. Thus, Lubuagan celebrates the excellence
of their weaving industry every year, on March 6, coinciding with the day gen Emilio
Aguinaldo came. “Laga” means weaving.
Laga Festival- From "laga", a Kalinga word which means to weave. Celebrated
annually, typically in March. It is a two or three-day celebration which showcases the
culture, arts, and history of Lubuagan.
"Celebrating the Laga festival is also paying tribute to our women-weavers who made
the Kalinga Ethnic weave a global fashion choice and model suit because of its
natural and intricate weave" thus said Mayor Johny Dickpus, Mayor of Lubuagan,
Kalinga.
Costume
The Kalinga G string or ba-ag (bahag) for mens and Ginamat Tapis for ladies
were traditionally used in Laga festival show of Lubuagan. The “ba-ag”
(bahag) is the common costumes for male Igorots or Kalingas. It is a long
woven material about 10 to 15 inches wide and 3 to 5 feet long. Its main
purpose is to cover the man’s private parts. It’s firmly secured at the waist to
prevent the clothing from falling off and to ensure that it covers the male
organs safely and properly. On the other hand, the female Kalinga costume
consists of a large rectangular woven clothing about 3 to 5 feet wide, and 3 to
4 feet long. It’s simply worn like a skirt and secured around the waist. In the
olden times, there were also no upper clothing for women, but as the modern
era has come to influenced the new generation, earth colored blouses are
now worn.
Laga show costume can show case the products of Ylubuagan which is
mostly the laga tapis, lilaga belly belt, beads and pot, and other costume that
can make the show beautiful and colorful.
leotard- Leotards are used for a variety of purposes, including yoga,
exercise, dance (particularly for ballet and/or modern).

Music
The music use in a Laga show can anything that can be suit into the dance
show. But usually used music in Lubuagan is Gong.
MUSIC: Flute narration, T.I drum and lyre music, pintaflores.
