Winter Storm Late Tonight through Thursday 3:28 PM

● A winter storm will bring widespread snow to the area from late
tonight through Thursday afternoon
● Hazardous travel conditions are expected for the Thursday
morning and evening commutes due to snow covered roads and
reduced visibilities
● Snow amounts: widespread 3 - 5 inches are anticipated, narrower
band of 5 - 8 inches likely
● Peak snowfall rates of 0.5 - 1 inch per hour are expected where
the heaviest band sets up, with the most likely timing for the
heaviest snow between 6 AM - 12 PM Thursday
● Blowing and drifting snow is expected in open and rural areas
due to NW winds gusting up to 30 mph

● There remains a lot of uncertainty as to where the

a narrow heavier band, and possibly more than one. amounts
The uncertainty in where these bands will set up is
reflected by the wide ranges in the snowfall forecast.
● Confidence on any locations exceeding 8 inches of
snow is very low. While some models continue to
indicate up to 10 inches for a worst case scenario,
amounts this high are unlikely.
● Current expectations are for a widespread 3 - 5 inches
of snow, with one or two narrow axis potentially
seeing 5 - 8 inches.
