ABSTRACT

The purpose of the research was to determine the prevalence of urinary tract infection
among pregnant women in Sharda PHC Kano state. Major research question developed
for the study were as followed: 1) What is Urinary tract infection( UTI)? 2) What are the
causative organism of Urinary tract infection? 3. To identify who are at risk of getting ( UTI) 4)
What are the signs/symptoms of (UTI) 5) what are the sources of (UTI)? 6) To examine the cause
of ( UTI) among the pregnant women 7) To identify the effect of (UTI) among pregnant women
8) To identify the role of community and family in improving their life etc. The study research
method used was the target population while (50) adults were samples for the study using
simple random sampling technique. The findings of the study include the following: 1) a
close observation of findings from the age of the respondents of the questionnaire reveals
that responses from the women aged 25-30 are more than the other age groups, 2)
Majority of the respondents were traders covering about 32% of the sampled population.
