LABORATORY EXERCISE
ANALYSIS OF TECHNOLOGY WITHIN THE INDUSTRY

 Company X is a small-sized trucking company with a total of 46 employees in two (2) branches. The company
operates 24 hours a day and five (5) days a week, with shifting schedules. Delivery goes within Luzon and
Visayas only. The company does not have an ERP system, but it has an Internet connection. Drivers use an online
mobile application for maps and directions, while porters carry a tablet for keeping track of the delivery details
online. Six (6) encoders, three (3) per branch, use computers to create and update files. These files are saved on a
company cloud storage, which are then being accessed by the two (2) branches simultaneously.

ERP system maintained by the IT staff in the head office. Most of the employees abroad use laptops to add,
update, and delete records from the system. Local employees, on the other hand, mostly use personal computer
and tablets. Most of the equipment and machineries in the manufacturing sites are programmable and can be
remotely accessed through mobile devices. The business requires fast Internet connection to run continuously.
Company B
A large company that manufactures
computer parts.
