I. Registration and Installation
Note:
During installation, you can choose the location to install Nimcard
Premium.

You have the option to restart the computer now or later when the
installation completes.

(3) The system will launch the Found New Hardware Wizard.

automatically (Recommended)’.
(5) Click ‘Next’.

(6) You will see a ‘Hardware Installation’ message.
(7) Click ‘Continue Anyway’ to start the installation.

(1) Before installing Nimcard Premium software, connect the
Nimcard Premium Scanner to the computer.
(2) In the Nimcard Premium CD, the scanner driver is located at the
folder named ‘Scanner Driver’. Double click to install the driver
and Nimcard Premium software simultaneously.
Note:
If your OS is either Windows 98 or Windows ME, you will need
to restart your system after installation.

B. Registering your Nimcard Premium Software
(1) When you have received your Authorisation Code,
launch the Nimcard Premium program
(2) Click ‘Register Now’ and enter the CD number and
the Authorisation Code.
(3) Click ‘Ok’
(4) Your Nimcard Premium has been successfully registered.

Kindly Note:
Nimcard Premium can only be installed in ONE computer under
the licensing agreement. You can choose to register the software
later should you not decided which computer to install in. The
software comes with 30 times trial.

If you are scanning business cards, under ‘New Database’ click
‘Nimcard Premium Database’ and name your folder.

IMPORTANT:
Before scanning any business cards, calibrating the Nimcard
Premium Scanner is necessary for achieving optimal performance.
You should calibrate the scanner if you are connecting the scanner
to your computer for the first time.

(1) Insert the calibration card (white name card size paper
included in the box or use any back of a business card)
with the white side facing upwards to the scanner.
(2) Follow the wizard to complete the calibration.
Note:
The Calibration Card can be used as a cleaning card. You can re-
calibrate the scanner if the scanned results are not satisfactory.

Scanning business cards automatically:
Nimcard Premium Scanner comes with Auto Scan feature.
Scanning will start automatically once the inserted business card is
detected.
(1) Insert the Business card into the scanner (with the front of the
business card facing upwards). You will see the following screen:

(2) If you do not need to scan the back of the Business card,
click ‘Process’ on the toolbar to process the scanned
information. If you need to scan the back of the Business
card, do not click ’Process’ at this moment.

Scanning business cards manually:
(1) Under menu, click ‘Settings’ and select ‘Scanner Options’.
(2) Choose ‘Nimcard Premium Scanner’
(3) Click on the main toolbar.
(4)
Choose the appropriate card type before scanning.
For Business card that contain English characters only,
select ‘English Card’ from ‘Type:English’ menu; for
Business card that contain both Chinese and English
character, select ‘Chinese\English Card’.*
(5) Insert the Business card into the scanner. (with the front of
the business card facing up).
(6) Select ‘Scan’ from ‘Action’ menu.

(7) If you do not need to scan the back of the Business card,
click ‘Process’ on the toolbar to process the scanned
information. If you need to scan the back of the Business
card, do not click ’Process’ at this moment.
Note: The changes made will only affect the current scanned
business cards. To change settings on all the scanned images,
select ‘brightness and contrast’ settings under ‘Scan Options’.

3. Using Flatbed Scanner to scan Business cards
Nimcard Premium software can scan business cards from ANY
flatbed scanner and process them.
Note:
(a) Set resolution to 300 or 400 dpi to scan in Flatbed
interface
(b) Place the business cards on the Flatbed scanner
(c) The number of cards must not be more than 8 at one
time

(d) All cards must be placed within the A4 area on the
Flatbed scanner
(e) Split the cards into 2 columns, the distance between
the 2 columns must be more than 20 millimeters.
(f) There must not be more than 4 cards in one column,
and the distance between all the cards must be more than
20 millimeters. All cards must be in landscape position.
As per below:

(2) Click the ‘Process’ button on the Flatbed scanner
software to process the scanned images.
(3) After scanning, the program will place the scanned
cards into Twain Scan Window:

Note:
To scan less than 8 business cards, please refer to the flash demo
when you launch the Nimcard Express program. From ‘Help’
menu, select ‘Flash Demo’. Click ‘Flatbed Scan’.

(1) Move the cursor over the area of the Business card to
perform the OCR operation.
(2) The selected area will be highlighted in pink.
(3) Place your cursor within the highlighted box.
(4) Left-click and hold the mouse.

(6) Release the mouse. The text will be added to the field:

(5) Select the field you want to place the recognition text in.
(6) The information will be added to the selected field.
Quick Search:

(1) Input the keywords in the Search Windows found at the
bottom of the screen.
(2) The cards that contain the keywords will be listed in ‘Searched
Cards’ folder.

(b) Press the ‘AND’ button
if you want to search cards that contain all keywords.

IV. Other Useful Functions

(3) Click on the Select box to select the categories

(4) You may choose to edit the category list, by clicking on the
‘Edit Category’ button. The following window will appear:
(5) You may choose to add, insert, modify and remove the categories.
Method II
(1) Select the cards you want to set categories, and
select ‘Set Category’ option from ‘Edit’ menu or click
the
button on the Toolbar. The following window will appear:

(2) Click on the check boxes to select the categories
(3) Click on the ‘OK’ button, and the category will be set successfully.

(3) The following screen will appear. Click the ‘Fields’ button to select
the information that you want to infrared to the mobile or PDA.
(2) Under the ‘File’ menu, select ‘Data Export’. Select ‘Outlook’
or ‘Outlook Express’ if you want to export the informaiton to

your Outlook Contact or ‘Microsoft Excel’ if you want to export
your information to the Excel spreadsheet.

B. Import from Outlook
(1) From the ‘File’ menu, select ‘Data Import’ and click ‘Outlook’
or ‘Outlook Express’.
(2) Follow the screen wizard instruction to complete the data importing.

V. Managing Document
1. Process Document
Nimcard Premium allows you to process and manage your Scanned
documents. Scanned documents should be in jpeg, tiff or bmp version.
Create a New Document Database before scanning:
(1) From the ‘File’ menu, click ‘New’.
(2) Select ‘Document Database’.
(3) Name your folder and click ‘OK’
(4) Connect your flatbed scanner to the computer and click ‘Scan’. You
can browse the document image in the ‘Twain scan’ window after
scanning.

(5) Click ‘Process’ from the ‘Action’ menu or click ‘Process’
button on the toolbar. The following screen will appear:

(6) After processing, you can progress to edit or copy.

Select the relevant button (for example: Title), the content
which drawn by green pane will recognized the “Title edit
area” in the right. You can Use and searched expediently.
(b) Nimcard Premium supports Drag and Drop Function by
mouse (you can drag and drop the content that you want to
the relevant place from left to right, used in ‘Title’ edit area
to ‘Text’ area).
【Append with OCR text】 -Append the drag and drop content in the last
【Replace with OCR text】 -Replace the text with the drag and drop content
【Insert with OCR text】 -Insert in anywhere with the drag and drop content
(c) Operate on the document image, select after right-click on the
green pane.

2. Search Document

The documents which contain the keyword will show in the
‘Searched Records’, the keyword will be highlighted in blue pane.
3. Categorise Document
(1)
In edit view, click ‘Category’ button from the left column.

(2) In the category window, select check box. You can select
more than one category.
Alternatively, click ‘Set Category’ from Edit menu, or click
button on the toolbar, the ‘Select Category’ dialog will appear:

Nimcard Premium can do intelligent search to the scanned images
or existent images which are in the hard disk, and import these
images into relevant database.
1. Process Photographs
(1) Create a New Photo Database before scanning. From the
‘File’ menu, click ‘New’.
(2) Select ‘Photo Database’. Name your folder and click ‘OK’.
(3) Insert the photo facing upwards in the scanner and click on the
‘Scan’ button. The following window will appear:

(4) Adjust the size, dpi, brightness if necessary.
(5) Click the ‘Scan’ button.
(6) The following screen will appear:
(7) Drag the red box to highlight the areas you want to process.
(8) Click the ‘Process’ button. The following edit interface screen
will appear. You may input information such as name, date,
event, location etc in the editor’s column.

2. Searching Photographs and Pictures
(1) Under ‘File’ menu, click ‘Search images’. The search dialog box
will appear.
(2) Select ‘Change Directory’, and click ‘Search Now’ to start searching
for your images.
(3) Select the images you want to add, click ‘Add to Nimcard
Database’ button.
(4) Alternatively, right click on the selected image, and click
‘Add to Nimcard Database’ pop up menu.

(5) You can now add the image to your existing database or
create a new database.
