Ch.1 Safety Precautions & Warnings
WARNING
Handling of the Patient Information
Before starting the operation relating to the patient information, always make sure that the information that
has been entered is correct.
In addition, when any operation relating to the patient information is implemented, always make sure that the
operation result complies with the original intent.
Patient selection (Danger of using wrong patient information)
Always check the patient information on the Control Station before inserting a cassette into the read-
er and sending to an output device. Additionally, check patient information on the output device such
as QA Station, PACS and/or media (CD, DVD, film) before image review.
Modification of Patient Information and Study Information
Risk of misidentification of patients may occur if modifications to patient information is made on the Control
Station in cases where a higher system is used. For example, a Radiology Information System (RIS) that
controls patient Study Instance UID. We recommend utilizing several matching criteria.
When the information is modified, notify the administrator of the modification without delay, and in
addition, make sure that the patient information and/or examination information are correctly
modified at the side of output device such as PACS to which the CS-2 sent the image information
and examination information.
Handling of Original Images (Dangers posed by breakdown of devices or media)
No guarantee is made that introduction of this system will not present the risk of loss of important data
such as patient information.
Always print out original images on film and store.
This system is not intended for the storage of diagnostic images on the hard disk, DVDs or other disks.
Cautions in Use
Following cautions must be observed when handling the CS-2 and followed in order to handle the CS-2 in a correct
manner. Before using the CS-2, thoroughly read this operation manual, and become fully familiar with the operation of
the CS-2.
WARNING
CS-2 is classified as Class B Information Technologies Equipment based on the standard prescribed by VCCI (Voluntary
Control Council of Interference by Information Technology Equipment).
Use of this product may cause electromagnetic disturbance. In such cases, the user may be requested to take neces-
sary actions to remedy the problem.
NOTE : If the contents of this page are not legible, order a new manual.
<5>
Ch.1 Safety Precautions & Warnings
Always contact your technical representative when it is necessary to replace the lithium battery that is
incorporated in the CS-2.
Follow the Operation Manual attached to each optional device when disposing of them.
Refer to the Operation Manual attached to each device for the operation of the PC and display that are the
components of the product.
Installing the LCD display on an unstable surface may cause it to fall and result in damage. Install the display
on a firm and safe surface.
The DVD Super Multi-drive may be used if the MEDIA STORAGE Option has been purchased.
Devices that the user purchased from the supply source other than KONICA MINOLTA cannot be con-
nected to the CS-2.
Software that the user purchased from the supply source other than KONICA MINOLTA cannot be
installed on the CS-2.
Users are prohibited from modifying the CS-2 purchased from KONICA MINOLTA.
Operation of the system becomes unstable if the device is kept powered on for 24 hours.
Power off the device when the job is completed in order to secure the stable operation.
When the 24-hour operation is unavoidable due to the nature of the system employed by your facility, it is
requested to turn off/on the power of the device at least once a week.
NOTE : If the contents of this page are not legible, order a new manual.
<6>
Ch.1 Safety Precautions & Warnings
Do not keep the image data captured by the CS-2 in the hard disk permanently.
Attention must to be paid to the password control when the Operator Security Mode is in use. Be careful not to
lose the password nor to leak the password to others.
Please check at least once a month that the time and date are correct.
Please do not attempt to operate the system from the Windows Explorer.
NOTE : If the contents of this page are not legible, order a new manual.
<7>
Ch.1 Safety Precautions & Warnings
WARNING
• Caution regarding exposure to laser
The optical head in the CD/DVD device emits a laser beam from the optical head. For the sake of safe-
ty, do not look at the optical head objective lens.
CAUTION
• Do not expose disks to shock.
Be careful not to drop CD or DVD disks from a height.
• Affix labels.
Labels should be affixed to CD or DVD disk cases to identify content recorded on disks.
Additionally, disk content may be noted on the label area of the disk surface.
• Readable/Writable Media
CS-2 is capable of reading and writing from/on “CD-R, DVD-R, DVD-RAM”. However, please note that fail-
ure may occur in reading or writing depending on the type of media.
CD-R CD-R <for data> manufactured by Taiyo Yuden
DVD-R 1-8 speed DVD-R <for data> manufactured by Taiyo Yuden

Ch.1 Safety Precautions & Warnings
Overall Cautions
WARNING
• The unit must not be used if smoke, unusual odors or sounds are detected.
In the event of detection of smoke, unusual odors or sounds, the power should be switched off immediately and the
power plug disconnected from the power outlet. Then contact your Service Representative. Continued use under such
circumstances could result in fire.
• Do not insert wire or metal blades.
Do not insert wire, metal blades or other foreign objects into the vent or disk slot; there is a danger of electrocution.
CAUTION
• Do not introduce water or other foreign objects into the CS-2.
Do not introduce foreign objects such as water or other liquids, pins or clips into the CS-2: fire, electrocution or damage
may result. In the event of accidental introduction of such foreign objects or substances into the unit, the power should
be switched off immediately and the power plug disconnected from the power outlet. No attempts should be made to
disassemble the unit. Then contact your technical representative.
CAUTION
• Shutdown or removal of the disk from the CS-2 should be implemented only after confirming that the access
lamp of the CS-2's hard disk is extinguished.
• When recycling the power of the CS-2, leave it for minimum 10 seconds after the power is turned OFF, and
then turn the power ON.
• When any work that may cause vibration to the product should be performed, before starting the work, leave
the product at least 30 seconds after it is shut down.
• Regularly clean the CS-2.
Regular cleaning helps to avoid various malfunctions in advance.
CAUTION
• Notes for the use of the cassette for image-stitching (image misalignment)
Images on the adjacent plates set in the cassette for image-stitching produce microscopic differences in magnification.
Due to this reason, the images on the adjacent plates may not perfectly match each other at the stitching border.
(at the exposure distance of 1.5m, maximum 0.5mm difference in the horizontal direction may be produced)
CAUTION
Check the touch position on the touch panel of the CS-2 Operation Unit after starting up the CS-2 Operation Unit,
followed by CS-2 Control Unit.
After the CS-2 has started up, touch different locations on the touch panel, and confirm that the cursor moves to each
position every time it is touched.
If an operation such as below is implemented while touching the touch panel, it may lead to the case where the cursor
position is misaligned from the touch position or the cursor does not move to the touch position.
- Starting up of the CS-2 Control Unit
- Turning ON the power of the CS-2 Operation Unit
- Unplugging and plugging the USB cable between the CS-2 Control Unit and Operation Unit.
If the cursor position is misaligned from the touch position or the cursor does not move to the touch position, either
leave the system for approximately 2 minutes or restart the CS-2 Control Unit and Operation Unit after ensuring the
USB cable connection.
NOTE : If the contents of this page are not legible, order a new manual.

Ch.1 Safety Precautions & Warnings
CAUTION
• Caution when applying masking to the area outside the exposure field.
Masking area is automatically recognized in the blacking out process of the area outside the exposure field.
However, auto-recognition of masking area may fail if the outer border of the exposed area falls within
approx. 3cm from the cassette edge.
Especially when a collimator is used, care should be taken to leave enough margin between the outer border of
the exposed area and the cassette edge.
