IMPORTANT NOTES :-

1. THE UBP UBP-600 x 2 plants (Modular design) can operate in different modes of operation .

2. There is huge flexibility and the End User can produce gas oxygen for direct pipeline supply to the steel
plant , Liquid oxygen for storage in tank & Gas Nitrogen from the same plants .

3. The End User can also turn down the production Capacity to 50% by operating single plant also if
the demand is less or due to any reason whatsoever .

4. For Example the plant can also operate only 600 M3/Hour Oxygen gas for direct pipeline supply or
only ~275 liters per hour liquid Oxygen for storage in tank.

5. The 2 plants of UBP-600 have a modular design and are integrated to operate simultaneously with
operation from a centralized control panel for easy operation & to reduce manpower.

PLANT PROCESS DESCRIPTION


The Air Separation plant has been designed according to the different boiling points of air components such
as O2, N2, Co2 e.t.c. Based on this principle, an Air Separation Plant can be briefly described by the following
processes: First, the air is compressed via the process of pressurization of the Air Compressor, the
compressed air is then cooled & cleansed of impurities such as H2O and CO2 by the molecular sieve
purification unit. The components in air are then purified and cooled to the respective liquid temperatures
(Boiling Points) in the main heat exchanger, after which they enter into the distillation column to get the
Oxygen & Nitrogen products. The detailed process is as follows:

I. Air Compression

Compressed Air at 7.0 Bar is supplied by the primary compressor and after being removed of
dust and other contaminants, it is fed to the required process after which it is fed into the Air Pre-
cooling System .

II. Air Purifying & cooling

Air is cooled to ~10oC on entering the refrigeration pre-cooling system. The air thus cooled enters
the Molecular sieve Adsorber for removing H2O, C2H2 and CO2, and then the dry and cleaned
air is obtained. There are two molecular sieve adsorbers which operate on a staggered cycle,
i.e., one is operated while the other is being reactivated by high temperature waste air. Then the
cleaned air enters into main heat exchanger and cooled till about dew point, then enters into
lower column.

III. Lower & Upper Column

The cooled air is taken into the lower column for rectifying. The heat mass exchanging is made
by the concentration and composition difference of the nitrogen with the high boiling point is
evaporated, the Oxygen with low boiling point is condensed.

The rich liquid air is formed through the multi-stage tray, and the high pure nitrogen is gained at
the top of the condensor, most of nitrogen steam is heat exchanged at the bottom of upper steam
is condensed, a part of the liquid nitrogen is fed to the lower column as reflux.

The other part of LIN after subcooling in the subcooler is taken into the upper section as reflux.

Mode 1 - The liquid oxygen pump draws the liquid oxygen from the condenser of the column-
cold box and compresses the liquid oxygen upto a pressure of upto 150 Bar which passes
through an internal gas vaporizer inside the coldbox -column and automatically converts the liquid
oxygen into high pressure oxygen gas for supplying in pipeline or cylinder filling. (There is no
loss of any purity of oxygen and is bone dry due to zero contamination that can be caused by
ordinary liquid oxygen pumps or bulky oxygen compressors. )

Mode 2 –The Liquid Oxygen is condensed in the condenser & comes out as Pure liquid
Oxygen at purity of upto 99.7% via the PL subcooler and stored un the cryogenic tank .

2. PRE-COOLING UNIT :
Chilling unit (with ozone friendly gas) is provided complete with air coils fitted inside of circular
tank with cover and base mounted on the skid. This unit has got a Freon evaporation coils fitted
inside the tank with inlet and outlet connections connected to a Freon unit of packaged type
design with sealed compressors of Hitachi/Mitsubishi, Japan brand, Danfoss Controls Expansion
valve and digital panel.

3. PURIFICATION UNIT PROCESS SKID OF BOSCHI ITALY DESIGN


Consisting of:
3.1. After cooler w/ air coil complete with inlet outlet connection for air cooling

3.2. High efficiency Nitrogen/cascade cooler made in carbon steel with rubber lining and air coils made
of ASTM 106 seamless double stage to provide extra cooling of the processed air without using power
by utilization of the evaporated cooling of dry waste nitrogen available at the outlet of the cold box.
The lines are provided and neatly mounted on the skid for easy connection with tank.

3.3. High efficiency Moisture separator (2 nos) for removal of moisture in the processed air and neatly
mounted on the process skid with inlet and outlet connection and pipeline w/ flanges, stand and drain
outlet for moisture connected to a central manifold mounted on the process skid with common outlet
at drain.

3.4. High efficiency oil absorber with inlet and outlet filter filled with alumina high grade quality of the
same quantity to remove all the oil traces in the process air.

3.5. Molecular sieve battery/dryer consisting of 2 cylindrical vessels with stand and base fitted on the
skid. It consists of two vessels A and B working alternatively and filled with high quality molecular
sieve (Zeochem, Switzerland Brand). The vessel A and B are interconnected with special valve for
air and nitrogen having special seating made of special materials for long life. Control panel if fitted
complete with temperature and pressure gauges. For regeneration of the battery regeneration heater
made in stainless steel is fitted inside the reactivation heater assembly box with electrical terminals
isolated with special theramic/thermics material. The complete piping and connection are pre-
fabricated at our factory and mounted on the process skid for very easy quick and easy installation
at the site.

3.6. Defrost heater of special design is made for high safety of the air separation column.

3.7. Gas/Air/water line as per standard layout on skid/platform prefabricated and ready for installation.

6. DISTRIBUTION ELECTRIC PANEL


Electrical Panel for supply of electricity to individual motors. With overall suitable size it has a
bank of on/off switches MCB/MCCB of high quality Siemens/L&T Make and neatly labeled with
separate connections for each individual equipments of the oxygen plant. This enables the
Operator to control all the Motors from one point.

7. CRYOGENIC EXPANDER

Cryogenic Expander, hydraulically operated with variable cam for automatic control of pressure and
temperature, this is also equipped with ball type valve at inlet and outlet which is proof for trouble free
operation for years together complete with electric motor & starter .

The Expander-booster is provided in the process cycle to increase the adiabatic cooling efficiency by
boosting/recycling the thermodynamics of the cryogenic expander.

1) Plant production and purity can be achieved within few minutes after tripping.
2) This results in reducing the air compressor power by 40% and lowering the air
pressure delivery of the air compressor.
3) The initial cooling time is reduced from 16 hours to about 5-6 hours which results in
huge saving of power and cooling hours.
4) Liquid Oxygen Pump gets steady flow of LOX by increasing the cold calories.
Note- this is a unique latest feature of Boschi technology and no other manufacturer has
this technology .

Quick cooling system


Quick start system is unique feature of universal Boschi oxygen plants. This saves lot of energy/power and is
not wasted in unnecessary cooling hours.Also plant can be run only during day time, for 12 to 16 hours as per
the requirement of the end user .Also plant is very suitable in countries where there is lot of power tripping .

Starting time aprox.upto full purity of oxygen/Nitrogen gas


After defrost ~6 to 8hours
After power tripping or short stoppage 20 -30 minutes
After 6 hours 45 minutes
After 12 hours 60 minutes

8. LIQUID OXYGEN PUMP: Oil free stainless steel Liquid Oxygen Pump
The liquid oxygen pump draws the liquid oxygen from the condenser of the column-cold box and
compresses the liquid oxygen to a pressure from 12 to 150 bar (2500psi) which passes through an internal
gas vaporizer inside the coldbox -column and automatically converts the liquid oxygen into high pressure
oxygen gas for supplying in pipeline or filling in cylinders. There is no loss of any purity of oxygen and is
bone dry due to zero contamination (that can be caused by ordinary liquid oxygen pumps or bulky oxygen
compressors.

9. Additional items included for erection & commissioning (INCLUDED IN THE PRICE)

1. Welding electrodes required for connecting pipes to process skid and to cold
box and return to Coldbox.

2. Oxygen laboratory grade purity testing apparatus- The purity of the oxygen product and the
oxygen content of the crude nitrogen gas is measured sample of gas and a highly activated form
of metal is contained in a saturated solution of Ammonium chloride in Ammonium Hydroxide.

3. Cooling tower - Induced Draft-Rotary Sprinkler type with Aluminum Casting Fan, FRP Body
with suitable Electric Motor for maintaining the circulating water temperature between the Hot well
and Cold well for optimum performance of the Plant. Complete in all respects.

4. Special stainless steel electrodes. 4 box

5. Oxygen Filling pipes in stainless steel from liquid pumps to coldbox


to filling manifold as per standard layout.

6. CTC (Carbon Tetra Chloride) 1 drum for oxygen degreasing.

7. Water pump & water softener.
