LEARNING MODALITY
MS CoOL

Learning Continuity Plan

S.Y. 2022 – 2023 1
A. LEARNING MODALITY

Manresa School shall implement an Online+ Learning Model for the S.Y. 2022-2023. In the
context of Manresa School, this shall be officially termed as the Manresa School Contextualized
Online+ Learning Modality or MS CoOL Modality. In this model, classes are still primarily
conducted online. However, specific scheduled onsite encounters are made available to address
a necessary educational and/or formative value. The schedule for the onsite encounters will be
PRE-DETERMINED and ANNOUNCED to the learners and parents at the beginning of the school
year. The school will continue enforcing Integral Christian Formation as the “way of proceeding”
in the teaching-learning process. Hence, the curriculum and instructional design are
“contextualized” according to the identity, capacity, needs, and limitations of the school and its
stakeholders.

Parents’/Guardians’ consent for the learners’ participation in the CoOL modality shall be a
requirement upon enrollment. However, the school also recognizes that there are parents/families
that are not ready to send their children back to school for onsite activities. Manresa School
commits to provide meaningful alternative online activities for learners who will take online
classes only. These learners shall follow the Online Distance Learning (ODL) modality that the
school implemented in S.Y. 2021-2022. Shifting from CoOL modality to ODL modality or vice versa
within the school year is discouraged.

ONLINE classes: Similar to what has been practiced for the last two (2) years, online classes are
conducted by teachers using varied online resources or tools. The teachers supervise the learners’
learning through the school’s Learning Management System (LMS): Google Workspace.

ONSITE encounters: These refer to the face-to-face classes where learners report to school based
on pre-determined frequencies and schedules. Observing the health and safety protocols, learners
report onsite for the following:
1. Clarify/consult concepts or assignments;
2. Perform physical activities/drills to be closely supervised by the teacher;
3. Perform hands-on laboratory activities;
4. Take scheduled summative tests/exams; and
5. Participate in formation activities organized by the Pastoral, Guidance, and/or Student
Activity Office.

2
Vaccination is not a requirement for learners to participate in the CoOL modality. However, the
school will continue to collect information regarding the learners’ vaccination status as part of the
Department of Education’s requirements.

B. SCHOOL CALENDAR

The school year 2022-2023 will commence on August 22, 2022 and will close on May 26, 2023.
The Grade School and Junior High School departments will continue to adopt a trimestral
schedule.
1st Term: August 22 to November 18, 2022
2nd Term: November 21, 2022 to February 28, 2023
3rd Term: March 1 to May 26, 2023

The Senior High School department will maintain the semestral schedule.
First Semester: August 22, 2022 to January 31, 2023
Second Semester: February 1 to May 26, 2023

The school shall continue implementing the “cycle” scheme. Each cycle consists of a specific
number of days. Within these specified days per cycle, the learners concentrate only on two to
four (2-4) subjects. This ensures that they master the competencies within the given cycle before
they venture to the next set of subjects.

The school calendar is subject to change considering the fluidity of situations (e.g., COVID-19
resurgence, natural calamities, health break, etc.)

C. IMPLEMENTATION

The MS CoOL Modality shall be implemented GRADUALLY. This manner will allow the school to
monitor the experiences of the learners from the higher grade level and assess the effectiveness
of the protocols. This in turn will help the school to address the possible challenges and further
improve the dynamics and contextualization in implementing the learning modality.

3
The implementation shall follow the given schedule:

D. PREPARATIONS FOR SCHOOL RE-OPENING

The school conducts the necessary preparations for the safe school re-opening for onsite
encounters in compliance with the guidelines set by the Department of Education on the
progressive expansion of face-to-face classes. Following a consultative and progressive approach,
the school has already gotten underway with preparations to:
1. Ensure that the school’s physical setup will comply with the required health and safety
standards;
2. Acquire and install the necessary health and sanitation supplies/equipment;
3. Make available all necessary classroom materials and equipment;
4. Conduct simulation activities among school personnel regarding safety protocols and
routines;
5. Conduct orientations for school personnel, learners, and parents;
6. Establish protocols when COVID-19 infection is detected; and
7. Formulate contingency plans in case of COVID-19 resurgence and suspension of onsite
encounters by government agencies.

5
E. HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

One with the Department of Education, Manresa School believes that our utmost priority is the
health and safety of our learners and teachers while ensuring that learning happens and learning
gaps are addressed. Hence, Manresa School has formulated institutional protective procedures to
(1) promote proper respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene, (2) reduce the possibility of
transmission and infection, and (3) enforce physical distancing.

Safety measures will be put up to ensure that physical distancing, adequate ventilation, and
physical hygiene are observed. Visible, readable, and adequate signages will be posted in strategic
places inside the campus. Sufficient handwashing facilities and an adequate supply of sanitation
products placed in strategic areas will also be ensured. Learner mobility will be restricted to lessen
physical contact. Activities that require too much social interaction and gathering will not be
allowed.

F. SUPPORT SERVICES

Guidance Services, Pastoral Care, Co-curricular Opportunities, Health Updates, and other services
will still be provided to keep the balance of offering quality education and caring for each other
as brothers and sisters. Learners are encouraged to avail themselves of these services ONLINE
although onsite services may be provided on a case-to-case basis. All onsite formation activities
shall be communicated to the parents ahead of time. These activities shall be voluntary by nature,
and parents’ consent will be required before allowing a learner to participate. Since the operation
of the canteen is temporarily suspended, learners will be required to bring their own food and
water. They will stay inside their classroom during the health break observing the set health and
safety protocols.

Parents are expected to conduct and fetch their children during onsite classes. The provision for
school bus services may be offered when the school receives the appropriate memorandum/order
from the Department of Education. If bus services will be offered, the school and the bus service
provider shall ensure the strict observance of health protocols.

6
G. SCHOOL FEES

With the new mode of learning, there will be adjustments in the school fees. Some fees that were
temporarily suspended and/or reduced during the implementation of ODL will be reinstated
following a just and reasonable computation. Flexible payment options will still be made available.
Preschool: Full payment, Semestral, Quarterly
Grades 1-12: Full payment, Semestral, Quarterly, Monthly (starting October)

Admissions are ongoing. Onsite and Online enrollment starts on July 5, 2022.
